I used to work visiting quite a few countries, supporting the local distributors directly with their customers, but I spoke only the real language In Italy and Netherlands I could generally follow the gist of their conversation, but in Scandinavian countries, no chance! Anyone following Mr Mercedes? I've been a Stephen King book fan from the first but usually find the screen adaptations rather B-movie (with the exceptions of The Shining, Shawshank and The Green Mile). The Mr Mercedes trilogy are excellent thrillers with great flawed characters, tension and plot twists. In the TV series every performance is outstanding and really nails the characters, without exception, making for an unusually satisfying transition that is as engrossing as the books. Casting Brendan Gleeson in the lead was inspired.

You won't be disappointed. There's a bit of language and themes that are hardly family viewing, but nothing gratuitous. I did like the use of "f##k off please", I'm going to try and get that one in sometime.
I'm still shocked that this fiction included two original ideas, classic Stephen King 'it wouldn't really happen but imagine if...' - that became all too real: the mowing down of innocent pedestrians with a motor vehicle and - I'll leave the other.

We're watching Gåsmamnan (Mother goose). Swedish crime drama. Noomi Rapace (original dragon tattoo girl) is the main character. Mother goose. Have you seen her in Whatever happened to Monday? She plays 7 parts - all on screen at the same time! Just about to start Tin Star. You're setting high expectations there Martin, with comparison to Banshee... Ooh that sounds interesting. Can't ever have too much Noomi

While waiting for more the Man in the Highcliffe castle , more OA, more Stranger Things etc. I've finished Dark Matter. Can't have to much Porsche running around with space guns strapped to her thighs Wasn't Stella or even interstellar They cancelled it so no season 4.. Ended with the aliens coming through a time/space tear, cliff hanger. Now I'm watching Killjoys having put it on hold for ages. Trashy space romp We also watched another Swedish series Fröken Frimans Krig. Miss Friman's War. Set in 1905 in old Stockholm it details the battle women had just to start a food shop, let alone get the vote and a fairer deal for sex workers! Not noir at all and all in Swedish, don't think there are subs for this either. Really nicely made though.

Remember her in The Tunnel?

Liar
Oh dear. I lasted the first episode - just. 5 minutes into the second and I binned it. What a pile of shite. I should have known as it was on ITV and nothing good ever comes from that channel.

That's a challenge too far! I've often thought the cadence of spoken Swedish sounds very odd to my ears and gives away nothing of what they're talking about. Yes, you have to really want to learn it and to speak it well takes effort. They can have nice long sentences with long words and 'not' at the end changing it to the negative at the last We watch all we can and listen to Swedish radio pretty much all day. Served up by my two old windows phones. The Nokia 520 is particularly reliable at internet radio using the app Tasmanic Radio, the station can stay up over several days at times. The 640 isn't bad either. Keeps our Swedish, song / screen play and films knowledge with it. Love the gritty dramas oh and some of the Jazz / Pop / Rock scene.

Of those, I watched the early Cold Feet and enjoyed them. The recent series was dire. Prime Suspect was good for its time. The Morses were very watchable. That's about it, I'm afraid.
