I don't know enough about SoTM to comment, other than knowing the obviously huge price difference. I think I'm a bit of a masochist. I like the Pi partly because it can throw up problems, and give me the enjoyment of solving them. I didn't realise you'd had problems before this.

I had a few times I find it quite frustrating as it as bad as going back to BugHead when this sort of stuff happens. Anything around coding and my mind starts to panic Yes I know it is a drastic solution but some very good reviews and a 30 day trail I tried the SOTM 200 before but did not give it enough time to burn in and had issues setting up Spotify. The dealer has promised to set up Spotify so it will all come down to sound The NEO ultra is supposed to be a lot better but a good bit more expensive It a shame as I like the sound from the DigiOne very much

I'm listening to the Pi now and it's the most musical source I've ever had. The problems I've experienced are tiny compared with the enjoyment I've had so far. Things are stable now, so I'm just doing lots of listening.

If I had more stability I would be happy. No music this weekend till I get a new SD Card and I do not want to go through that again

There is a config line (boot_delay=1) that you can add which prevents corruption of certain brands and speeds of SD card.
See the Volumio thread for details.

What exactly is the issue with getting Spotify to work with the Pi?

It mostly the SD Card getting corrupt Stan. Spotify connect used to be eaiser to set up but now you have to use Putty to upload Martin suggestion might overcome the SD issue

Generally, there isn't a problem getting Spotify to work and it's working perfectly for me. I had more of a problem with Qobuz but that turned out to be DNS, again not down to the Pi.

Are you cutting the power to your pi off before you have closed Volumio properly, John? That can cause problems when you boot up again.

It sometimes happens on start up it will not fully power up and that is causing the issue Tim I just want stress free playback Very happy with the sound not so happy with corrupting the SD card On a positive note It is giving me more time for the guitar

I find my Pi gets ‘lost’ on the network every so often, and the only way to resolve it is to take the power out and then plug it back in a few moments later.

John
You hit the nail on the head the interface has to really provide a rock stable platform between you and the equipment it is controlling imho
We are lucky on TAS to have an IT wizard like Martin to assist in these matters I would have gone bananas long before the fifth flashing if an SD card!
What about bubble UpNP used this in the past on different equipment always rock solid?
