You should have asked them to ship it with a USB-C cable.
I would try to find a DC socket to USB-C plug adapter. Not easy to find but I saw one in Bing image search.

I'd heard that they run a bit warm. FWIW I've come to the conclusion that they're pretty much a non-starter for any setup, like mine, which runs a custom config.txt to throttle back voltage etc. I'll not be buying one.

By all accounts they need a fan for general purpose computing, not just passive heatsinks. Older case designs don't allow for any air flow.
It could be that a Pi 4 with even more throttling back would work well as a streamer, but I'm in no hurry to try one.

Cheers for that, John. I'll definitely be sticking with the Pi 3. I'm half tempted to pick up a 'spare' as well.

Might be worth having another 3 as a backup. Hans suggest that sometime in the future they may no longer produce the 3b
