Some rarely played Bruch here, featuring the Double Concerto for Viola and Clarinet .. Can be a little bit on the sentimental side perhaps but so sensitively played.

Some very effective and affecting piano music by Elena Romero, 1907-1996, a Spanish woman composer, and student of Turina.

An interesting new to me modern composer, Karel Husa. A good and novel cello concerto on this album.

On this calamitous day for the UK, this is rather jolly!

Superb ECM release including a (for a change) convincing cello concerto, with 2 (yes, 2) wonderfully evocative slow mvts.

Who the hell is Helmer Alexandersson? Easy to find out, but I can't be bothered. Sounds late Romantic. This album is a real grower - I had it on repeat the other day, and really enjoyed its 3rd play! Luvverly stuff. Nothing else by him on Spot or Tidal, sadly. Let's have a look on Amazon ..... nope, just that one album

Anner Bylsma - Bach: 6 Unaccompanied Cello Suites [1979]
The pieces are played on a cello by Mattio Goffrileli from 1699, and a violoncello piccolo from 1700 for the 6th suite.

I think I heard this when I did a big survey of the Cello Suites a while back.

Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber - Rosenkranz Sonaten (The Mystery Sonatas or The Rosary Sonatas or The Copper-Engraving Sonatas)
I think you'll like this, if you don't already know it, Jerry, and probably so will Jules, and possibly even Martin.

Prompted by Jerry's album choice of Vaughan Williams...
Ralph Vaughan Williams - Mass in G Minor. This is not the version I'm playing (Stephen Cleobury / Choir of King's College Cambridge / David Willocks) but a quick listen tells me it's pretty good too.
