The burning question is, will all of her stay inside that dress until the end..?

A wonderfully relaxed and spacious Bruckner 4. Great sq, too. This may well have become my 'Go To' Bruckner 4. Complete unknowns to me - conductor, orchestra and recording label!

Google is, as always, your friend... This is from the Discogs site...FARAO classics was founded a decade ago with the idea of shifting the artistic process of making a recording of music, from the planning stages, through the actual recording, editing and mixing right up to releasing the recording, completely into the hands of musicians. Having as our aim the creation of a unique recording with its own artistic personality, we pay no regard to any chances of short-lived commercial success, or marketing schemes.
Rather, at the start of every new recording venture, there is one basic question: Is there a compelling reason why the recording should be made? The advantages of being an independent recording company can also be seen in the areas of marketing and publicity – short channels, personal commitment and passion for the product.
Top rank artists, exciting projects and performances, excellent sound quality and elaborate presentation and packaging of the finished product have caused quite a stir with both press and public alike. Consequently our recordings have become part of the scene in record shops throughout the world and are available in all major foreign countries.I find that to be a rather interesting, and quite refreshing, ethos.

That's a rather excellent ethos. I shall investigate their recordings further.

Thanks to the GoogleMeister. Yes, interesting ethos. They don't seem to be exactly a household name, as none of us seem to have heard of them before! Methinks they need to re-look at their publicity machine. I got wind of the label in a recent Fanfare where a review extolled the virtues of a Schubert 9th recording, which is indeed very good if a trifle rapid for my tastes. A search on the artists there led to the Bruckner 4. There's also a Mozart Requiem including the same forces on the same label, I've not heard that yet.

I'm being very impressed by the conducting of Gerd Albrecht. I first came across him in Pettersson's 8th symphony, where he seemed to get a more coherent and structured sound from his orchestra compared to the several competing recordings. So I played his Brahms 2nd symphony and was suitably impressed. A very underrated conductor imo. I shall be investigating more of his work - it's a shame he seems to have concentrated on opera.

Beethoven symphonies 1, 6 & 7 so far today. George Szell conducting (and probably terrorising) the Cleveland Orch. Really enjoying Szell's way with the music. The Spotty sound is way better than I remember from black disc and CD as well. Very listenable.
