Technically, not really back at work as sitting is a touch tricky at the moment Mike I was thinking much sooner rather than later due to the ground swell of interest. I feel it would be really well attended event given the interest in the SEG currently and as Martin has been spearheading the charge only feel it is correct that a Audio standard event would be a great way of celebrating the SEG. Your thoughts chaps on a separate thread though to be fair.

If the gathering was small-ish (say, half a dozen people) I could host the 'SEG-off' myself, since I cannot move my system anywhere else (have you SEEN my speakers)!
We could start with a basic SEG and SMPS and go up from there. Let me know the interest in doing this.

I would also be happy to host in our spare room with a variety of kit

I would be up for attending (even though I have now sold my SEG), so I guess others should take priority.

I would be interested to hear what is going on and that is me being more music than kit fan.

Stan has very kindly sent me the SEG30 firmware chip. Is it worth installing before I get the superclock mod done?

I would also be happy to host in our spare room with a variety of kit Unfortunately I give my apologies for this event. Flight prices are just a little too high... Would have offered my SEG for it though.

Stan is modding my seg...the other is standard, also CAIMAN MK2 with the firmware updated.
will endeavour to listen to the three- cans/full rig....then post impressions with the dorado.
folk that have stan dacs might get an impression of what it achieves IMHO.

I'm a little dejected...
I started this on 16th August. Many emails to Stan. Reading online reviews, messaging members here. Discussing possibilities, asking about the benefits of upgrades etc.
Ordering items, getting mods. Even updating digital cables. Packed up and sent.
All of this arrived in New Zealand on 1st October. Vey exciting. Perfect timing, as it's the beginning of two weeks of holidays. I'll have time to give some hours to settle, and then some hours to enjoy.
But...it's now the 11th October. My parcel, with SEG, cables, supercapped PSU is still with customs. And no contact from them. Phone calls give no clue. Hence my dejected state.
I am breathing very deeply, back at school on Monday, and no present arrived...

Not good, Brett, hope it arrives soon. Customs never seem to turn things around quickly, from what I see.

My delivery speed when I ship things myself are legendary on the internet and on eBay. So much so that I have seen members banned on forums in the past for mentioning that they had already received their delivery as far away as Australia or the US within a few days. There is madness in the system, and important forms to be added with the delivery. And that is the key to Customs. Mind you, I did get a neutral feedback comment from a buyer in India who complained that he had to get down to the post office to pick the parcel up. And where doe she live? Kalewadi Phata. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kalewadi to know where that is. I managed to get it through Customs import duty free with the right paperwork, and then sent on hundreds of miles away his town from Bumbay, and still he wasn't happy. I reckon that any other seller would have even refused to take the order.

You need to be infinitely patient with customs processes. Not to mention the final shippers and their ' handling charges'.
I'm sure it'll be worth the wait.

Customs in various counties can be a real PIA, anything sent from the US or Canada via their own postal services is a nightmare to import in the US, the last parcel I received took over 3 weeks to go through UK customs via Parcel Farce despite serious leverage.
It also depends on which agent you sent it with, those like UPS, Fed-ex, DHL have their clearing houses with direct a customs line and that usually entails a call from the receiver this end calling us to say shipment in the air can you confirm all the details so we can get this through customs within 12 hours of landing on UK soil.
Schenker's are superb at this the most we have waiting is 36 hours, but you pay for the service as with anything in life.
With regard to Brett's package I find it almost bonkers you cannot get hold of NZ customs for a straight answer, all of the paperwork is correct including the 3 extra commercial invoices that accompany any shipment outside the EU.
I have been exporting around the world for over 30 years with various business so am pretty versed in how the system works.
Anyone can send a parcel anywhere in the world in ultra quick time if it is small enough and you are prepared to under value the goods to a ludicrous degree so they do not attract any customs fee's, however this is illegal and constitutes very bad business practices imho.
Just remember using a country's own postal services does not guarantee a quick service, do check before signing up to one.

Had a very slow turnaround with a big pile of Mana I sent to NZ. Think the problem was the value was too high ! My buyer insisted I declare the sales price as the customs value. They were used to seeing 10 quid
