It is undoubtedly an addiction and can get to be a crippling one. People forget that you don't just get addicted to crack, but orange juice, stamps, vintage watches, records, pick your poison...

More like an infectious disease that thankfully I seem to have avoided!

Oh dear! I'm actually worse than a box-swapper, I'm a hoarder. It's a slippery slope...

In the past I have come across a few customers that actually had more equipment that we did! Including one gent who used to hide his speakers at work behind some of the companies exhibition stands so his good lady would not position his gonads above an industrial mincer

Got over the box swapping some years ago. It's seldom that anything changes in my system. I've got my preferred CD players and DACs and a vinyl front end I don't want to tinker with as it sounds lovely. The amps and speakers are permanent fixtures. All I need to do is enjoy the music.

I still have my first ever amp from 1989 even though it isn't very good. And I still have my first ever CDP from 1991, it's an old friend that just needs some belts!
I still have amps that I used ten or twelve years ago even though I've bought and sold another 15 amps since then, I don't use them but I don't want to part with them either.
Daft really!

Kicked the illness of box swapping in the early 90's then i contracted a more serious disease, buying vintage equipment, the trouble with that is you don't swap them out for a new box but just keep buying & hoarding equipment. However ive not bought anything for a good four days..

I've only got one box (I think) that was built in the last ten years and it's a bit of an oddball... Most of my gear is from the '80s and '90s.

I think I might have kicked the habit but you never can tell. I take it one day at a time...

Not buying anymore but I do swap around the amps and CD players I already have.
And I like tube rolling.
