Hey Martin and Paul, thanks for the birthday wishes, much appreciated Had a great day with wife and daughters. Eldest daughter came down from Uni in Nottingham for my birthday so we all had a nice meal and drinks up in Victoria, so we were able to walk her over to the station after to catch her coach back. Son sent a lovely message from Oz where he now lives with his wife - do miss him however, he's mad happy and blessed so I can't ask for more than that No tunes though, always seems to be the way with hifi My Cadenza Black has worn so it's been sent off to Kilian Bakker (used to work for Ortofon and comes very highly regarded / respected) He's going to give it a complete overhaul and fit a Fritz Gyger S stylus. That stylus profile is pretty much Ortofons top dog Replicant 100 profile so It's effectively an upgrade - I'm itching to have it back. I'll make every effort to feedback my findings here too. Yes indeed and as pointed out, Verstappen not seeing the bigger picture in regard to his incident with Ocon. Hamilton was 'educating' him, (that's if he's snart enough to listen to someone who knows) and told him that he had more to lose and that you always ensure there's enough space. He'll learn hopefully if he doesnt remain hard headed and overly impulsive. Great result for LH-44, who nursed his car home to victory in the backyard of his hero Senna, bet that felt sweet, not to mention nailing the constructors for his employer. All in all birthday / weekend has been 10 out of 10. Mind you tunes and Hifi joy would have made it 11 out of 10, ah well .....

Hamilton on pole, Mercedes' 100th. Some question of Hamilton impeding Sirotkin although the latter was on an outlap?! More serious is Vettel damaging the scales in another fit of pique. Yep, some F1 fans not happy that Hamilton wasnt penalized and 'upset' at what they see as FIA inconsistency. I actually like Vettel but he's not naturally good at keeping his cool when under pressure. It's a shame really as he usually ends up shooting himself in the foot one way or the other.

And seeing as we're in Brazil this weekend - A nice short summary of Senna's long sought home win in '91
He was physically done in after the race, had to be helped out of the car BUT, he'd finally acheived it after enduring no power in '84 electronic problem in '85 engine failure in '87 another engine failure in '88 collided with Berger in '89 colliding with Nakajima in '90 Despite no power steering and being stuck in 6th gear in '91, luckily he didn't retire and at long last achieved that elusive win !

I've about 1.5k albums. Mainly between £10-£30 current value. Some £70-£100 current value Two at around £250+ current value.
Their monetary value means nothing to me though as the value in them is obviously the music and hearing them on my system and the joy that brings which is priceless.
I'd LOVE an original copy of this from the late great Weldon Irvine
Awesome musicianship, keyboards, horns, the depth and layers..... the trumpet solo from 2.35 is just insainly fabulous !
Unfortunatley the 1973 LP it comes from, Time Capsule goes for £300+ VG, £700+ - £1K+ EX, NM/Mint.

Ricciardo really done in and down in the dumps here:
"I don’t even think frustration’s a word anymore, everything just feels hopeless,” Ricciardo said. “I honestly don’t know, where I am, I honestly don’t see the point of coming on Sunday, I don’t see the point in doing the next two races.
“I haven’t had a clean race, weekend, in so long. I’m not superstitious or any of this bullshit but the car’s cursed… I don’t know. No words. Helpless think is the best word. I'll let [Pierre] Gasly drive it, I'm done with it."
Whilst I can imagine all the bad luck has left him feeling totally deflated, there's a part of me that feels like you sometimes have to hold it down and not wear the 'completely defeated' coat on your back.
He's in what I'd call a pinnacle of sport arena, where you have to keep your chin up and try to retain even a degree of hope, focus and positivity ( I know easier said than done sometimes, but....)
Vettel for instance has had a pretty indifferent number of years, where expectation has been super high with nothing to show. You can sometimes feel his pain, that said, and all credit I've never heard him talk anything like this, not once.

Vettel was very respectful in defeat to Hamilton, orally and going out of his way to embrace the man, I rate him for that.
I sincerely hope Ferrari get things together and give him a consistently fast car next year on par with a fast Merc.
Max is defo one for the future, young hungry, cavalier and certainly doesnt 'bow' on track to / for anyone.
I also hope that the Red Bulls too are consistently fast and reliable so that we have one heck of a battle, paticularly on the Saturday and Sunday of each 2019 race weekend.
Hamilton always relishes a battle so it'd be all good.

Great start and a great win for Raikkonen.
Verstappen keeps proving himself to be ever consistent, always up there somewhere and a genuine hard racer. You'd expect him to bag a title or few in the future.
His team mate Ricciardo on the other hand has had more than his share of reliability issues and probably be glad to see the back of the season.
And so it's off to Mexico we go. With the Ferrari fast again it could be interesting.

There's plenty that can go wrong....I hope folks aren't getting too carried away with Lewis having a slam dunk of a race. Indeed, this is F1 after all, DNF's, shunts, mechanical issues etc etc - My comments are in veiw of what could potentially be achieved tomorrow of course. If not tomorrow then we move on for even more anticipation at the next race(s), or even next year

With LH-44 on the verge of another great achievement I found this a good read. www.theguardian.com/sport/2018/oct/19/how-mercedex-carried-lewis-hamilton-to-verge-of-his-fifth-f1-titleHamilton and Mercedes have been outstanding, unrelenting, focused and delivered when the odds were not quite in their favour which has been the difference. Individually they are premier, together they are one heck of a force, who's combined A game is pretty close to unbeatable much of the time. I hope they smash it tomorrow and only wish I could be part of any celebrations ....

I wonder if LH44 will go on to match Schumachers 7. He'll already be a legend if/when he achieves the 5, 7 though...... gosh ! Personally, I believe he has the proven natural talent, focus, application and ability to achieve that and I actually hope he does, and what a story that would be.

Exactly ! Not the way LH44 would like it and you could tell it ws uncomfortable for him but as expressed, ultimately it's about securing that championship.
The glory, celebration, money, status etc etc ultimately. If that means you make a decision like this onCe or twice throughout the season then that's Smart and definately what team is about when things are postioned as they currently are.
One DNF, grid penalties and a couple of non top two finishes and things change massively, leaving you regretting not making a decision like today.
It's the combination of a top driver, great car and a team that is properly 'on it' in terms of decision making throughout the season that brings the title home.
Case in point and Vettels mistakes aside, Ferrari have been disappointing.
The decision to not allow Vettel out behind Raikkonen for the 'tow' during quali' at Monza (and with hindsight) was a bad one, thus denying title contender Vettel pole position, which did his title chances no favours at all.

The pole was special, Just superb. He knew he needed a good start and that he had to avoid any turn 1 approach shenanigans (especially with two 'shunty' types right by him) and he did.
We talk about Lewis but he's a great driver with one great team behind him. I'm very impressed with them.
He's fortunate enough that if ever there is any hint of an issue with the cars performamce engine, handling or otherwise they are absolutely on it, pulling out all stops to get to the bottom and resolve.
Just what a great driver needs in order to ensure ultimately, the delivery of what both he and team wants.

It's an astonishing bit of development they've had in the past six months. To make the mighty Mercedes engine look a bit second-hand is quite an achievement. Indeed! Mercedes know theyve been on the back foot for a while now and are struggling to close the gap. Ferrari have had a great car for a while which has responded amazingly to its upgrades. Ferrari will know this should be the year for them after so long. Massive challenge now for LH44 and Mercedes. Hard for an LH44 fan like myself as I'd like to see him nail 5 before Vetel. Still credit to Ferrari for what theyve produced.

The pace of that Ferrari bodes badly for Hamilton's chances now. He will need every bit of guile to win even one more race of those left. Without question, hence why LH44 has been speaking of it for ages.
