Happy Birthday, Jean .... but lay off the booze a bit, eh! He did like a tipple, or three .... or twenty! Ah, but the music. Yes, one of my favourite composers. Very distinctive. Try the 6th symphony with Saraste conducting on RCA - perfect music, pretty much perfectly played, imo. The filigre delicacy and transparency of the strings, suddenly contrasted with a blaze of brass. Wonderful.
