Looking forward to the Peter Gabriel gig tomorrow night at Wembley Arena. Is anyone else going? The last time I saw him was the So tour around 1986, although I far preferred his first four solo albums.

We are still kicking ourselves that we missed the local concert a year or so ago - he played the "hop farm" which is 4 miles away. We heard it on the night - but hadn't booked tickets because at the time we were unsure when we would be back from holidays. Great artist - enjoy the show

That was some concert. You had to be there for this one: great songs, great performance, average sound, amazing band.
A special word for the lighting: I think this may well be the best gig for visual effects I have yet seen, truly spectacular. It never got in the way of the songs, though.

Sounds like you had fun Martin. I've been rather ignorant of his work since 'So', which I was rather ambivalent about. I had rather assumed that since then, he's been knocking out albums relatively regularly on his own label, but having just Googled him, I see that apart from soundtracks, he's only made 4 since then. Was the material played last night drawn mainly from those recent records?

Thankfully, the material was all from his first four albums, plus all of the So album.

Oh that's interesting. You say thankfully - does that mean you're not so keen on his later stuff?

Thankfully, the material was all from his first four albums, plus all of the So album. According to the set list there were 3 songs from us. His 6th album and Tne one after so. Us is an awesome album .probably his best.

According to the set list there were 3 songs from us. Ah yes, it's easy to forget which song comes from which album. He started section 3 with one of my all-time favourites, Red Rain. However, my favourite album of his has to be PG4 (Security). All 8 tracks are simply wonderful. Rhythm of the Heat has been a test track of mine for a long time, separating the proper systems from those that can't handle complexity, deep bass and a pounding dynamic crescendo without compression.

Car / Scratch / Melt / Security - Should all be in any record collection. Absolutely! For those who are confused, that's the first four albums all called Peter Gabriel or PG1, PG2 etc.
