What an interesting choice of pieces. I'm all for the Shostakovich 10th, of course, but Webern? The last time I suffered his music live I nearly gave classical up for good!
Glass should have been in there for arguably the greatest living composer.

Well if I had to choose six pieces that I thought had the widest chance of entertaining people who don't normally listen to classical music, it wouldn't be any of his choices. But to be honest, I wouldn't even try to. It's a bit of a dangerous game - with such a personal choice you run the risk of people listening to those pieces, not liking them, and then not bothering with anything else. For me, one of the great things about classical music is there is actually a huge amount of diversity in the genre which quite often people aren't aware of!
