I finally got to see Parasite today - except for a 30 minute chunk in the middle. The chap next to me fell asleep and then had a full-on epileptic seizure. There were four of us trying to keep him comfortable and then wake him up. We feared he was not breathing at one point. He was not in a good way, had trouble remembering his name and it took some time for him to fully realise his situation, by which time the paramedics had arrived and eventually took him away for monitoring. What I did see of the film was brilliant and I will need to see it in full at some future point. And the cinema didn't offer you free tickets for another showing?

No, and I didn't think to ask until after I'd left.

I remember a guy having an epileptic fit during a 5 a-side football game some years ago, was quite scary.
I'm sure he appreciated you looking after him Martin.
Of course the cinema should be offering you tickets ... you are helping them out as well!

Maybe this is naive but I get the sense that maybe the situation became so intense/scary that they just didn't think of it.
They probably would comp Martin's ticket without question, but just simply didn't think of it whe the emergency was still happening?

They didn't think about it and neither did I. I was speaking to one of them afterwards, asking how he was and was just relieved that they were looking after him.

That was a bugger Martin, probably the worst thing to happen with a movie like Parasite on first viewing. Not so crucial second time, but it must have really taken the atmosphere away.
Still, you'll definitely have to see it again now

Oh yes, I definitely will but it'll have to wait until it comes to Sky, Netflix or Prime.
So many excellent moments. The high level toilet had me creased up on more than one occasion.

I just learned that Hulu will be streaming Parasite starting April 8th.
I get Hulu and Tidal included automatically in my phone plan. I'm not sure if I should wait until April to see Parasite but I've done well so far not learning anything about the film other than its name, place of origin and the high praise that director of the film has received for this and other projects.

Personally I think it's worth seeing Parasite on a big screen.
Although there isn't a huge visual scale to the film, being a performance led piece, it's very keenly observed and there are plenty of visual details and sound design that make it a real treat at the cinema. You'll also pick up more of the visceral intensity of the film. Enjoy!

Personally I think it's worth seeing Parasite on a big screen. I agree, especially the first time. The 'cinematic experience' of both scale and the immersive effect of being in a large darkened room really adds something IMO - you lose so much of it's great cinematography on a small screen. The music for sure really adds another layer and also the mere fact you don't have a pause button!
But it's easy for me to say, I have a large selection of cinemas within a 5 mile radius.

That's disgusting customer service on their part. Perhaps a little less time spent on Mumsnet.

Your opinion is, of course, your own. I was basing my opinion on actual knowledge of how staff in a customer-facing and/or service industry are expected to perform. I still don't understand the "Mumsnet" comment. I'll just assume it to be a rather poor attempt at an insult, shall I?

Assume what you like, I shall leave you to bask in your self righteous indignation toward the lack of corporate nouse on belhalf of the cinema and their staff in such a trying situation.

Assume what you like, I shall leave you to bask in your self righteous indignation... There is no need for this. Unlike some forums which delight in belligerence between members, we're all friends here and we try to find alternative ways of challenging each other, like the use of humour.
