You should have stuck through E5 towards E6. It really is very well written and performed. I've just watched the final episode of The First. It's reinforced my previous opinion that this has been top quality drama and a thorough joy to watch. The best series of 2018 and one of the best of the decade for me. I really hope there is another series.

It played the long game and was much better for it due to the rich characterisation.
Penn surprised me, too. Top grade actor, without doubt.

My thoughts about everything coming to your choice of package could be coming true. Was surprised to see BG on Prime. Will they vacuum up everything in time ?

I've just finished watching "Agatha & The Truth of Murder" on Ch5 and it was rather good. It was the perfect antidote to the usual seasonal blockbusters with screaming soundtracks, and that are full of explosions, and car chases. A nice, gentle, British who-dunnit with an excellent cast (Ruth Bradley, Pippa Haywood, Tim McInnerny, Ralph Ineson) and fine acting.
You could do a lot worse than seeking it out on My5 and chilling out for a couple of hours.

I watched the first episode of The Same Sky last night. It's based in 1970s East Germany and features a young member of the military being trained and prepared to become a spy in the western side. It smacks of Deutschland 83 but has its own style. His target? None other than the character played by Sofia Helin of The Bridge. I shall be watching more.

Saw the first episode of the Xmas Poirot - unrelentingly dark as I expected. A bit too much for me. I can understand them wanting to move it on from the David Suchet depiction but I don't think they've got it quite right yet.
Interesting casting of John Malkovich as the ageing Poirot, not sure what I think about that yet ...

I appreciate dark, although Suchet "was" Poirot, much as Jeremy Brett will always "be" Sherlock Holmes for me. I shall watch with interest.

There was always a joy to be found watching Suchet's Poirot - there's none in this adaptation, just a morbid curiosity ...

I've just watched the first episode of 'Ascension,' on 'Pick;' it's a SyFy series, so I assume it can be found elsewhere too. It's an interesting premise - A spaceship powered by nuclear bombs secretly launched in the 1960s. A colony ship on a 100-year journey to spread humanity to the stars. Although it sounds like pure science fiction, U.S. scientists actually worked to build such a spaceship in the 1960s. MOREI'll definitely be watching more, but the (at the moment) bad news is that it was cancelled after only the one series. Don't forget, by the way, that series 5 of Luther starts at 21:00 on New Year's Day. It's a four-parter, with episode two on the following (Wednesday) night at the same time.
