I was never really taken with her first time around, but I'm watching the reruns at the moment and I've developed a new appreciation for that suit she wears, especially when she's walking away from camera.

I'd just started work as an apprentice in a car factory , we grew up very quick , unions , beer , footie , working men's clubs , racism , pin-ups on every wall , long hair , flared trousers , cigarette smoke , betting shops , cars that wouldn't start , card schools , discos and bands that didn't release singles , that was 1973 .

Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes are pure and utter nostalgia - but not a desire to return to those days!

Yes that doesn't sell the 70's at all well, apart from the long hair. I can well imagine your job would have been pretty 'challenging' at times. I guess my nostalgia for the 70's is based on the idyllic places I grew up in and the wonderful, cultured people we knew who are no longer with us. I was very fortunate and privileged as a young one thanks to my parents.

It was the norm I grew into it and stayed 35 years , there were Thirteen and a half thousand in the plant , four thousand when I left , nine hundred today .

I've just watched the first episode of "Hunters" on Amazon Prime. It's very, very good... and quite violent in places, although it's not violence for the sake of violence. Picard next. I've started looking forward to Fridays.

Watched Hunters ep1 tonight. It's quite gripping stuff and very well made but I'm a bit uneasy watching its hyped up Kingsman style comic strip approach - of course there have been numerous Nazi hunters over the years but as far as I know there weren't any kill squads like this. Should it all be reprised as 'entertainment'?
It also reminds me that a number of these bstrds are still alive in the US and elsewhere, living out their final days in peace. And of course makes you think about the rise of Nazi fan boys in Europe ...

And of course makes you think about the rise of Nazi fan boys in Europe ... I did say that there seemed to be a vein of very dark humour running through it. It's EP'd by Jordan Peele who wrote and produced, Us, and Get Out, both of which I've just bought on Blu-ray, and he co-produced Spike Lee's "BlacKkKlansman," which explains a lot. Personally I think it owes a debt to the style of Kill Bill, and Quentin Tarantino too.

Hunters is too stereotyped for me. The thick Jewish accent most of them put on is too much. Racist against Jews IMO
A black female Jew with an afro ? From all I have seen black Jews get a pretty rough deal in Israel
A black lesbian CIA agent ? In the 60s ?! Possible but bloody unlikely.
Too gory
Disappointing.
Not going much on Picard either, too derivative

Picard is okay. I'm watching The Expanse with Marie now. By the second series it's miles or 'klicks' ahead of many others..
Started The Strangers, fake pregnancy etc. Marie likes it..
I'm watching the Keeler trial thing. Late I know.. Al Stewart quipped in Post World War II blues song.. "And one day Macmillan was coming downstairs, A voice in the dark caught him unawares, It was Christine Keeler blowing him a kiss, He said "I never believed it could happen like this..."

"And one day Macmillan was coming downstairs, A voice in the dark caught him unawares, It was Christine Keeler blowing him a kiss, He said "I never believed it could happen like this..." Congratulations. For finding an excuse to post a lyric by Al Stewart, one of my favourite artists of all time, you win The Internet! For no good reason at all, my favourite Al lyric... not the best, just my favourite, because it's pure genius. It's a complete character sketch in four lines. The last line is absolutely brilliant i.m.h.o. I defy anyone to listen to this and not picture the guy perfectly defined in their mind's eye. They found guy the who did it, he had the lobotomy and the chicken eyes, And he gazed around the courtroom with a kind of vague suprise Reminded me of one of those Vikings with the long-handled swords The kind of guy even Joan Baez would not feel non-violent towards
