I'm happy with the 30 seconds samples for 90% of what I'm investigating
I get those on Amazon.co.uk Allmusic.com If not available there I try Amazon.com For, say a German band Amazon.de can have bands that UK and US don't
That does most of what I need, but they can all miss some so I try YouTube If I want to hear full albums YouTube may have them, if not I like Grooveshark.com (thanks to John of this parish) if that doesn't come up I might give up or try Spotify
Where else do we have ?

Spotify all the way for me. Couldn't live without it!

Me too, the more I use it the better it gets. Some of the hi-res streams, played through the Raspberry Pi into my main system, sound very good indeed.

It's mainly Spotify for me. I need to hear more than 30 seconds of each track for me to really appreciate the album and buy it. I'll play it through for a good couple of weeks, and If if keep coming back to it I'll buy it. An even better way is to have friends round for a music session, I'm always taking notes of albums I liked
