Can anybody recommend any good speakers for an iMac?
I currently have some basic Logitech ones and the sound isn't great.
Was looking at the Bose Companion 3's, but they seem expensive. Does anybody have a these and if so, are they worth the cash?
Thanks,

Will look in to Russ Andrews - thanks Mike. Remember reading a lukewarm review of their USB enabled amp somewhere, but will take another look.

Unless you are really stuck for space, I wouldn't bother with specialist computer speakers. A decent small amp and a pair of small proper hi-fi speakers would provide a far better result. I have a Rogers Ravenbrook feeding some KEF 101s. Also have the Behringer USB DAC from the Mac into the Rogers and BitPerfect with iTunes.
Given the prices on eBay, it would probably be cheaper than getting new computer speakers.

Space WAS a problem for me.
I made a pair using 100mm Sony car speakers (from Ebay) and used the cabinet construction as a test of skills with my newly acquired router.
I've had them for a couple of years now driven by my old QED A240cd amp.
Two pictures.

If I had just a bit more room then these mini monitors I made some time ago might be better. I have Fostex FE126 and FE127 to use.

I made a pair from Fostex drivers, very pleased with them. Using a Mini-T amp.

If you really need a simple solution, the Creative Gigaworks T20 I use at work don't sound half bad at around £50.

Thanks for the suggestions! Having thought about it i have moved my amp nearer the computer and I'm going to see if i can play music through that. Does anybody know what cables I need? I have a awia XA-003 amp and an iMac.
