I have now built a second Zotac Nano PC for the family (one each for Ruth and her daughter) and I'd like to enthuse over these fabulous little machines. Beautifully made (cast chassis), impossibly small (the 2.5" HD just fits) and with loads of features: SATA-III hard disk interface, built-in graphics, USB-3 fast (blue), USB-2 power (yellow), card reader, gigabit ethernet, 802.11 ac/a/n/g/b wi-fi, infra-red receiver.
You can get Intel and AMD versions. I bought an AQ01 with quad-core AMD processor and Radeon HD8330 graphics because it was going for silly low money on Amazon. Go for the bare-bones, put 8GB RAM in it and a Samsung 840 Evo SSD. With Windows 8.1 installed it really flies.
If I was looking for a replacement PC, I would buy one of these.

That's the infra-red sensor, should you want to make a media centre out of one.

I wondered if that's what it might be.
