Some of you may have noticed the shiny new Facebook icon top-left (desktop and tablet mode). We have created a new Facebook page for TAS in order to keep you informed and as a way of generating interest from friends who may wish to join TAS. We will also use this as a way of communicating with members should TAS/ProBoards go down for any extended period of time.
Please may I ask Facebook members to visit the page and Like it? That way, you'll be kept in the loop. You can also post links to any threads that you feel are of particular interest. As usual, all comments welcomed!

Being an old fart I would not touch Facebook with a barge pole.

I do not understand the desperate need for people to live their entire lives in public, must be a '15 minutes of fame' thing, I even struggle with my membership of the few forums I belong to. My interest in UAP's (the shiny new PC term for UFO's) has waned this year and as a consequence I've not posted on my own forum for months. For me FB is the spawn of the devil...

Facebook is great for me as most of my family live in the States and my wife's in Cape town. So for the two families to keep in touch and see pictures of Grandchildren growing up, and as an uncle to be involved in my nephew and nieces lives, Facebook is Excellent. I'm also involved in an awful lot of charity work. Facebook is fantastic and brining communities together. Not saying that Facebook doesn't have its negatives though as it does. Especially as many kids value their lives through it.

I do get the positives Sov but for me personally the negatives far outweigh them, I can certainly see how it would work in your circumstances though

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Like it or not, Facebook is used a lot by people for casual social contact and especially by young people. In fact my son, who is able to phone me, text me or e-mail me chooses to communicate with me via Facebook Messenger! There are downsides but I see FB as essentially a good tool for keeping in touch with friends and family.
The other key feature for us is that it will give us continuity for those times when TAS may have technical issues. At least we'll be able to keep you informed!
