The eye / brain connection not in much use so more focus on the ear / brain function
LEDs and as much kit lighting covered or disconnected
Useful if you know your way around your room as you could be in trouble of course !

Most of my listening is late into the night. I almost always tun off the lights. A beer or wine glass is always in the same place so I know where to reach, but there have been a few accidents ;-) After many years of doing this I hate listening with the lights on, I find it such a distraction. Very odd I know.

I often listen with my eyes closed. All distractions immediately removed!

Try turning the lights out as well. It is 'darker' or put a bag on your head

Yep, I prefer low lighting - curtains drawn even during the day, just a small lamp behind me, maybe. Call me a troglodyte. Sometimes a small spotlight shining onto the big poster on the wall between the speakers (soothing river glade scene). (Especially cool with a nice big valve power amp glowing away. )

I fall asleep listening in daylight if I'm tired !
Listening in the dark allows me to hear so much more - and concentrate on the things I usually miss

Listening in the dark is not easy with some transmitter valves.
Heaters bright enough to be reading lights.
My 833 valves have heaters of 10v @ 10A = 100W

My 833 valves have heaters of 10v @ 10A = 100W Covering them up could turn out to be a problem ! My Chord has bright blue LEDs that light up the room. I have a roll of black paper at the front on ym rack and a couple of record mailers on either side Can't do more as it has to breathe

I think the last time I listened seriously to music in the dark must have been around forty years ago. It also involved the sharing of cigarettes and saying things like " man" and " far out" a lot as I remember.

Hah - I remember that slogan, as well as "Light Up and Live". What little we knew.

Plus 1!! Weirdly - it doesn't work with my eyes shut? Much better with some LEDs to distract the brain from all other thoughts! Best sound upgrade ever - well second to a few beers

Eyes shut doesn't do it The brain supplies a more 3D effect with the eyes unable to work, plus I assume the brain has told the eyes they can take a break I never was much for flashing lights. Concerts and festivals way better in the dark too
