Hello from the North of England, its grim don't you know ! I've always loved music ,the means by which we listen to it became an obsession later on .I love vintage gear,Garrard,Lenco,Leak,Quad etc etc. The Best amp i have owned was a leak TL 10.1,it really had something ,it remains my standard.I foolishly sold it along with the 12 plus and i threw in the pre amps and a Chapman pre power combo,a very nice hifi dealer took possession of them. The way it goes ! I am interested in modern gear but its all out of reach financially and im not convinced its better than the best of the classic stuff. At present i am listening through some kef 105.2 ,a tandburg tuner amp ,a garrad 401,and a modified lenco gl75 . I sometimes use a Phillips cd player but digital is generally Spotiffy or Youtube through the hifi ,both great resources, sound quality can be great or poor but its free so can't complain. I make turntable plinths for a living . Anyway ,hello all . Carl

Hello Carl and welcome to TAS! I can only imagine how you feel at moving some of that gear. It's the Leak Stereo 20 that still does it for me. Still, you have a couple of great decks there

Thank you for the welcome Martin.Thing is vintage gear never used to be sort after like it is now.I built up a decent collection through the 90s , It waan't expensive, my 401 ,serial number 1054 cost me a hundred quid, the leak stuff cost me 15 quid. I bought a mission 774 tone arm for 20 ,Lenco turntables were virtually free etc etc The cats out the bag now though ! Id love to get hold of a stereo 20 as ive never heard one , one day the day will arrive !

Hi Carl, I didn't notice that you had joined TAS back in June. Now we have a chance to say Welcome! It would be great if you could add some photos of the progress of the G99 plinth build that you are doing for me to this thread, where I'm covering the development of my deck (or start another of your own if you'd prefer). As a trader, you should be aware of TAS Rule 7, here, and therefore, there's a point of housekeeping to attend to if you don't mind - we prefer gentlemen of the trade to declare their interest in their signature, so it would be good if you'd amend your details to show the name that you trade under. That way everything will be above board and tickety-boo. Cheers and once again, welcome to TAS

No problem Carl. We have a slightly different way of doing things than most forums, I wouldn't want to think that we'd scare you off with all those rules! .....and what you do with your marrow in the privacy of your own home is entirely up to you!
