On 5 on Demand just now there's a cracking program called Underground Britain which deals with Scotland. There's a couple of interesting features and the one that might appeal to the gents and ladies here is the feature about Invergordons oil tanks.(They hold the record for the longest echo).
Fella explains this and also plays a sax there - with a low note that sounds like a foghorn!!
Well worth a watch.

Saw a bit about these tanks on some other programme, knew about them before this due to have mates working in the local dockyard but didn't realise that they still in use so recently, section about the hydro power station was good too.

Yeah,I've a pal that stays up there and he's known about them for years but didn't know they were still usable. I thought the whole program was good but that big cave where they discovered the bear bones would take a bit bottle to explore!!

You wouldn't get me squeezing through some of those tight spaces. I've visited Dinorwig, a similar pumped storage power station in Wales.

Aye,well dodgy! Did you see the 18" pipe he had to go through to get into those oil tanks....Ooohhhh shudder When I first started work "do on the pit" we worked a 42" seam, by the time the roof supports and debris were having their share 24" was quite a normal working space, you just get used to these things in time.
