I quite like reading the forums around Christmas time as people seem to have new bits of kit that they enjoy over the Christmas period, they often write about it and post up a few pictures and the odd picture of them selves half hammered.
So I thought I would start a separate thread for it.
I'm not in the market for anything new any time soon as I'll be in Cape Town for Christmas and I've just upgraded my amplification and a speaker re build is on the horizon.

I am torn between putting a Caiman mk.2 or an RCM on my Chrimbo list.

I am torn between putting a Caiman mk.2 or an RCM on my Chrimbo list. If you mostly listen to vinyl I'd say get the RCM, they make a huge difference to the quality of vinyl replay. If you're mostly into digital get the Caiman. This year I won't be getting anything major for Xmas but a low-slung counterweight for my Jelco 750D would be nice, as would some more vinyl to play.

I must admit I have never heard vinyl through my system, I would love to give it a go, but I think I will always stick with digital as my DIY dddac front end is exceptional. Roll on the DAC bake off at Electrobeach's on Saturday ;-)

Unless I get sidetracked I'm going to have a few joyous days of listening to music and more music. Lots of vinyl as well as CDs

I may get a CD or two, I usually do Half hammered? I can't do that any more, but a glass or two of fizz will be in the offing, perhaps some port later in the afternoon. It's the family and congeniality that I enjoy, lovely to get them all together and Ruth's children and my son get on very well. Music preferred to TV, every time.

Alas no, Father Christmas refuses to call any more after he gave himself a hernia trying to squeeze a pair of speakers down the chimney.
but seriously, I don't have any relatives rich enough to buy me the sort of kit I'd like !

Yeah hopefully just some records/tapes. I can't think of any new new toys that would fall within our standard Christmas budgets! Saying that, maybe a mono cartridge...
