Difficult to see how many versions there are of say Pearl's Girl, a lot
The pain is the tracks are unique and well worth having on the various versions
There must be at least 6 versions of this, x2 for vinyl and CD, likely more and there are some nice tracks hidden around
Is there an ultimate guide ? Amazon not really telling and Allmusic must be missing a load Discogs might have them all.....

Yeah my first port of call would be discogs - it's pretty comprehensive on electronic stuff. Here's the listing - 22 versions! A few will be duplicates from different regions, though.

Being John Peel's honorary younger brother (that he didn't know about) I'm the old fart that gets told to turn the music down by the kids when they come to visit Dunnobass... is of course 20 years old now ....... I was unmoved by the Radio 6 set. Was 'ok' *The* one to get is that session they did for Peel, which is not available anywhere They on song that night with improv's on well know tracks

Dunnonobass is in my Top 10 easily As with Shamen - En Tact Before they both went in a different direction - Shamen clearly more so!!! I enjoyed the radio 1 set - some really great mixing / live production! Will hunt down that Peel session thanks

Still really enjoy their 'Barking' album from a few years back. Remember been on holiday in Ibiza and the 'Always Loved A Film' track was everywhere.

Sounds good, might be better than my reel to reel version (damn !)
One of the best things they have ever done IMO
What do you think ?

I listened all the way through. Classic, with the man himself talking at the end of what was the planned set
Tracks you know with a nice twist or 2. Love the Eurostar announcements

Your reel to reel copy must be terrible! I had turn my iphone up to 90% and speaks up to 80db to get a half decent volume?? Will just listen via iphone / headphones some time

The reel to reel is 'different' seems more detail with that, possibly something missing. If that is MP3 I'm surprised. It was good, gooder than MP3 ought to be IMO

mp3 encoded at 320kbps with the LAME encoder can sound very good indeed.

What so does that make things that already sound crap better? I thought once it was crap it was too late?

Are you asking me? You can't make something that sounds crap any better! That's not what I was saying.

I thought MP3 was one flavour only. Makes sense there are different levels - and normal for the complicated world we live in So I know Is there just the one level of FLAC or more for that too ?

I'll tell you when I get home. Essentially, it's 320k with high quality, called from EAC when I'm ripping mp3s. LAME 64-bit is pretty fast and the results sound good.
