There's one trend in modern music that really aggravates me.
Back in the day, artists would release one or two singles and then the album would be released, sometimes followed by more singles. So there was always a sense of expectation for the album.
The trend in the streaming age is to release more and more singles before an album. For example, an album I was waiting for was just released with 5 out of 11 tracks already in my library. Worse, much worse, was the Sofia Portanet album this year which had just 2 new tracks out of 11. Needless to say I have barely touched the album.
I just don't understand the thinking behind this - all one is left with is a sense of frustration and anti-climax.

Money, poor decisions, incompetents in charge, the list goes on

I tend to just wait for the album and don't listen much to singles. There are exceptions, but few.
Qobuz seems to release the album early with some tracks missing, I'm fine with that as they appear eventually.
