How much difference can a spdif coax cable make, i was thinking? (different level of impact depending on your setup of course...) For some context, I have Eric´s suggested Wifi client/Throttle V3 setup going into my Primare NP5 streamer (with a Farad Super 3 PS) and have good faith in this outputting a fairly low digital noise floor. I was confident that my AudoQuest Cinnamon was a weak link and not able to protect the low noise floor potential into my DAC. Earlier this week a saw a used AQ Coffee cable which i picked up. So, what did i think? It was simply amazing, it really was! In my setup every single aspect of the sound improved a lot. Much more then I anticipated. If i would point out one particular area that improved more i would say that my DAC now is much more musical and engaging sounding due a the improvement in bass quantity and definition. Suddenly albums that i haven´t associated with being funky or head-nodding is basically transformed into something i can´t sit still to... More importantly, i don´t want to stop listening to music. It clearly showed that a digital cable can make an huge difference if it is fed with a clean signal that it can protect into the DAC. Having said this, i am not saying that the AQ Coffee cable is particularly good and that there is not other cables that are much better. I assume there is much better cables! Anyway, it´s only a digital cable. How much can it matter...? (I know I am late to the game to explore these things and make such conclusion. I´m just another one sharing my findings)

System transparency and a low noise floor can help when evaluating changes The cool thing with the digital domain is the joint effort of lowering noise and protecting noise. Depending on which one you apply first, the other aspect is going to be noticed much more. I have to say that this cable was now nearly as impactful as when a got the Farad Super 3 power supply, which was amazing. But since my Cinnamon cable wasn´t protecting the noise floor very well the power supply gain was masked by that "bad" cable, which leaked noise. If I would have had this cable from the beginning then the Farad Super 3 upgrade would have been even more noticeable and i would not really have understood how important the cable was... (since it wasn´t as important when i had a higher noise floor). To me, this clearly explain why we sometimes say different things about the same gear. The order we implement them has a huge impact, even when implementing the same cable/gear, in the exact same setup.
