Yes, when we test new DAC´s, is it the DAC as such that has become better or is it mainly as "simple" as they have achieved an even lower internal noise floor potential? It can be both of course but I think this is an interesting thought to have in the back of your mind...:-D

Yes, when we test new DAC´s, is it the DAC as such that has become better or is it mainly as "simple" as they have achieved an even lower internal noise floor potential? I'm doing that right now, and took care to leave everything else exactly the same as before except for the DAC swap. I can only attribute the sound mprovement to an even lower internal noise floor and possibly some improved resistance to incoming noise.

I have added some Track Audio Precision speaker stands.
These come highly recommended from Tony I have also added 8 BR sticky pads to the base plates. To be honest initially using them the speakers were over powering the room. The bass whilst deeper was now causing the bass to sound mussy I could hear more soundstage and depth to. But I lost the tightness.
I had a few things to play with. I tried positioning but I have limited space to work with. I removed the cups but that didn't work. In the end I put some cushions seats around the rear wall. Wow I didn't think there would be be more body and detail. It adds a bit more richness to the sound where I am hearing more into the mix.
It has been a slow process to get here. At some point I will consider lowering the noise floor, even more. But I am in no rush and feel like it's time to just enjoy the system.

Good stuff - they look like they have some fancy isolation footers or something?

My girlfriend heard the system before I treated the bass issue. I didn't explain there was a issue with how the bass was interacting in the room. She liked the sound. Yesterday we had time to listen together with the same track and her response as soon as she heard the system was holy xxx. She rarely swears but totally understand her reaction to what she was hearing.
