Is anybody using a Balanced transformer to power their system?
I’m interested in adding a small one to power source components. I’ve seen some people use them alongside a regenerator. Some people place the balanced transformer first, before the regenerator, others feed the transformer off the regenerator.

I tried an NVA balanced transformer and thought it good, but not better than the Power Plant Premier I was using at the time. I didn't try feeding the PPP from the tranny so can't comment on that.

I use one i built, it has a 1kv isolation transformer in it, 4 sockets, and a double pole rcb so it detects fault current to ground on both sides of the balanced output rather than just one side.
I find that it works better on stuff that has a mains transformer in it rather than a switching supply. There is not a great deal of difference if any with stuff that uses an smps. It works very well on lencos, shuts the motor right up and smooths it out, probably because there is 120v on either side of the coils. It works better if there is a dc blocker in front of the isolation transformer, no transformer likes dc on it, it will start to saturate with just a few ma across it.
I have the f5 power amp, the jbe and the phono stage plugged into it. Doesnt make a blind bit of difference ime to the dac, the b1 pre which runs off an 18v laptop supply, or the wiim mini
Wether it is any better than a regenerating power block like an isotek or any of that sort of stuff is anyones guess, i havent got that kind of money to blow on power so i havent compared

It’s great that you’ve built your own. I’ve read about people using multiple transformers, one for each component. Very expensive to purchase a built one, but reachable to DIY.
