Yeah, not keen on doing that just for one app. Plus I found out our eldest daughter can't have the WhatsApp cos' she's in Japan. So has to be Messenger
We're both on OS build 10.0.14393.1066 on the 640's.
But that is an insider Guinea pig build.

I'm pleasantly surprised at how good 15063.138 is, and my phone battery lasts a lot longer now.

In that case, perhaps only a hard reset will do it.
I think I may have to do the same to get my Barclays app to work again - it still thinks I'm using a jail-break device!!

thing is Whatsapp didn't work on Marie's 8.1 OS, did on mine. I reset her phone on 8.1, no joy. Update both to W10 still no joy on her phone. If that is the only thing that doesn't work we're leaving it. It won't be too long until we go for Nokia Androids

A few more issues with the latest W10 mobile insider build vs 8.1. Are any of these present ok the official releases of the mature Services you guys use? I'd hope not! Maps: -Can't adjust the volume of the Nav voice. All you get is the ringer / notification volume adjuster up every time. You have to use something like BBC iPlayer to adjust the media volume then open maps and hope. - You can only have 3d view, no way to have a flat map, which I prefer. - gets its knickers in a twist at times and freezes during navigation. Back button and restart navigation cures.
-being picky the actual speed indicator digits are so small you can see them (designed by a 20 something with young eyesight). The speed limit is nice and clear though. Its a shame as the Nokia inspired Here drive on W8 etc was nigh on perfect!
Copy function: - Can't copy a text portion from say a web page or app like Tappatalk any more! There's select all which is just useless..
Live tiles: - if a tile is made small it is just blank. - Larger live tiles of web pages show just the txt and that can be truncated, no pictures any more..
App swapping: - several apps just get closed when trying to fast jump between apps (long press on back button), esp web pages and Tappatalk it seems.
Messenger takes forever to open.
There's a noticeable lag when starting typing esp in email. It takes ten secs to catch up with the opening word you've input.
Fun and games!

No, I don't have those issues with Maps. I always prefer 2D maps. I can't remember about the voice volume, it's been a while since I adjusted it.
Small live tiles show a number for messages, etc.
Copy/paste works fine with text, and you have the nice cursor 'joystick' on the keyboard to fine-tune positioning.
Yes, Messenger takes a while to open!
I think you need to update to the current version on the Insider Slow Ring.

Thanks Martin. Gives me hope.
Interesting, you'd think they'd take a working W10 build and mod it keeping changes to a minimum.
It auto updates, so waiting for the next one. The predictive text and Swype is poor too. They do seem to suffer from a lot of regression problems!

I love the swype keyboard, it's amazingly accurate with even quite vague gestures. Makes typing fast.

Ditto on swype. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/SwypeNokia on Symbian were early adopters. They've cocked it up on the 640 W10 build though. And I've seen that some web pages are not being resized properly. Teething troubles

...but you don't have the latest version of W10. I'm not seeing a lot of these issues (although I have a 950).

I have the absolute latest early release on the the windows insider programme for our phones. It says it's bang up to date and I get new updates weekly.
The 950 etc would be a mature hardened W10 release.

Surprised you can't get 15063.138 for it. Thought that would be the same for all supported phones.
Sadly Ruth's Samsung ATIV S is not supported.

Just had a second update. I'm now on 15205! Marie's is still on 15063. Interestingly, WhatsApp on her phone now finds some of her contacts. I can now select text from web pages or content in Tappatalk. Let's hope the other probs are fixed. Swype seems better even this far into this message..

Great news!
For 15205 you must be on the Fast Ring?

I got tired of the slow boat.. Many, many things are better on this version. Still can't change the volume of voice guidance in maps nav though.
Ill take the Nurburgring Nordschliffe every time
