For bluetooth (not the last word in SQ), I can stream Spotify, Radio Paradise or files to the car and it works really well.

Which programs is it likely to remove when doing major updates?
Can't say I want to install Ableton Live or Reaper DAW for it to faff about it with 'em.

That's true for a small list of apps deemed as incompatible. For instance, it happens to Speccy, a useful tool. I don't know why, because it always reinstalls fine.

Can't say exactly which - some software 'breaks the rules' about where to install itself, or its settings, etc and it's these that can get hit most by major updates. The more obscure the software the more likely it will happen. I'm surprised that Asset was affected as that's pretty reputable software although when I reinstalled I noticed that I was not running the latest software version of Asset and maybe that's the reason.

I think by now, if you've been keeping up with Windows Updates, you're not likely to have any more surprises.

Good one, Simon. Once you start connecting to the Microsoft ecosystem like OneDrive and OneNote, not to mention getting Cortana going, you'll find you have a very powerful tablet in your hands. Enjoy!

OneDrive is really good means you have stuff like PowerPoint and Excel without the extra costs. Very handy

Yes, to be able to use online Office on your document store from any connected machine with a browser is immense, something few users really appreciate.

OneDrive is great, although annoyingly it won't work on Vista unless you have User Account Control switched on. Viewing and editing Word / Excel etc on the go from a smartphone is very handy. I would also like to commend Microsoft for Outloook webmail. The user interface is much cleaner and easier to follow than gmail's.

Yes, we push Outlook Web Access out to all our students. It really works well and adjusts itself to mobile mode when it senses it's running on a phone.

I've played with a colleague's Linx Windows 10 tablet. At £139 it's a lot of tablet for the money, nicely built and looks great.

Ecosystem.........hmm. You have been subsumed by 'the machine' Martin! The reality is that stand-alone doesn't really cut it any more. Whatever you buy these days is going to fall into the Apple, Microsoft or Android (Google) ecosystems, with their cloud connectivity, storage, settings, mail and features. Choose wisely!

Up to date versions of browsers:
• Microsoft Edge 25.10586 • Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 • Google Chrome 47 upwards
No excuse for having an out of date browser, especially in view of how rich some websites are becoming.

The latest version of IE won't run on older operating systems, so I rely on Chrome which does.
I'm not going to replace an operating system that I'm happy with just to get advertisements delivered to my desktop more slickly by Microsoft......
In any event, my netbook is not powerful enough to run Windows 10 and I have various applications on my desktop that won't work under Windows 10.
I'm also sticking with my 32" CRT television !
