Any form of musical masturbation by free world Jazz masters, self absorption beyond even that of Roy Gregory.
Sun Ra, Ornette Coleman , Charles Mingus fine musicians for sure just arhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
I remember around 10 years ago a while attending a bake off session at a well know person's abode, another forum gentleman 'introduced' us to his favorite style of music. After 10 minutes of what can only be described as a few blokes pissing around with nondescript chords at totally different timing sequences it started to gather some cohesion.
The gent said, that was a great warm up eh? I've been to better pub gigs where the band are totally on a different planet due to some form of substance over indulgence and that sounded 100 times better.
Maybe I'm a philistine, however the gent did a CD based on his special selection which still resides in one of the CD racks, labelled "in case of fire please play" guaranteed to empty pretty much any room!

I call that 'diddly' and it is not a compliment either
Some excellent musicians do it on certain albums. I don't buy them

Well put sir ... I remember someone saying to me that it is one of the best-produced albums of all time. That may well be, but doesn't stop it being overly theatrical pomp-rock, and er, a bag o'shite ... While we're kicking .... Done by a sweaty fat bloke Just to complete the hatchet job - I was in Oxfam today and they had a grand total of six lp's in the 'metal' section - three of them were Meatloaf. Nuff said!

I feel the same about Beefheart's 'Trout Mask Replica'. I have tried to listen to this on several occasions, but simply cannot see (or hear) what the fuss is about. To me it just seems to by a lot of discordant noise, with no structure or message. Yet it is often placed in those lists of the 'Best Top 10 LPs of All Time'. There is anecdotal evidence that Beefheart had just bought himself a new hat, and refused to remove it during the recording session. This meant he wasn't wearing headphone, so he couldn't hear himself during recording. Another explanation for the odd recording is due to th excessive influence by Zappa who (I believe) produced the album. Either way, I believe the reason why Trout Mask Replica gained such plaudits was because it was by Beefheart and therefore must be good, regardless of the fact that I suspect few, if anyone understood it. Emperor’s New Clothes? I agree with this.

For me the "stand-out" has to be The Beatles. Not only do I hate their sound, I really cannot appreciate what others would like about them. Even covers of their music stink to high heaven AFAIC.

They do seem a bit of a marmite group even after all of the hype of the 60's. Personally I can't stand 'thrash' metal of any desciption irrespective of how highly rated the band may have been, the music stinks... There's no melody it is just a bunch of drugged up pathetic morons shouting and banging on instrument.... rarr winds me up evey time!

Nevermind by Nirvana Never heard such a fooking row in my life. All you have with this record, is a long-haired, scruffy bloke, screaming and shouting a lot. That's about it really.

I actually find it rather an unremarkable album and failed to understand the fuss about it at the time.
