Fleetwood Mac's third studio album released September 1969 Peter Green – vocals, guitar, harmonica, six string bass, percussion, cello on "Oh Well Part 2" Danny Kirwan – vocals, guitar Mick Fleetwood – drums, percussion John McVie – bass guitar Jeremy Spencer – piano on "Oh Well Part 2" A change of direction for the blues band I saw many times. Prog even Liked it from the start, even though it was such a change of direction for them, then grew to love it to become my favourite FM album Playing it a few days ago I remember how wonderful this album is. First time heard on Qobuz, looks to be the 'Celebration Edition' Track order from the original LP was altered around a few times in its history. The CD I have has the tracks shuffled around, most confusing when you expect the order you have always heard. The extra tracks on Qobuz fit well with the album (Oh Well part 1 and 2, Green Manalishi, World in Harmony) Danny Kirwan's first album with the band, writing good tracks Sadly Peter Green's last with the band as his demons took him open.qobuz.com/album/al3ilfbghvdoa

Thanks for the AC, Mike. Haven't listened to this in a very long time.

Well, that was an enjoyable session. Such a good groove throughout. Giving this 4/5 according to your scoring.

Has its moments. Some better than others but a worthwhile revisit after several decades on the shelf.

I love Peter Green guitar tone. As BB King said "He has the sweetest tone I ever heard, he was the only one who gave me the cold sweats. In my case it can touch me somewhere deep inside, that is hard to express. Closing Eyes has that similar pain as Man of the world within it Overall it is a bit hit and miss for me, kind of what I expect from the band I did not enjoy the almost jam feel of Fighting the madge. I really dislike When you say, apart from Pete's guitar tone, that seems out of place with the vocals. A 2 is the best I can give it, far to inconsistent for me.

I so wanted to love this album when it came out, but as a fan of the "Fleetwood Mac" and "Mr Wonderful" albums I just couldn't There was too much filler, which I thought was mostly down to Danny Kirwan. Nothing much has changed. I can see the songs for what they are better than my somewhat blinkered blues views could, back in the day, but that still doesn't mean I like them on a Fleetwood Mac album. This remastered version is "saved" by "Oh Well" pts 1 & 2, and "The Green Manalishi..." and even Kirwan's "World In Harmony" which seems a bit more grown up than his earlier efforts, and reminded me a little of Kirwan's "Dragonfly," which I did like.
I'll give it 2 for the original album plus an extra 1 for the bonus tracks. 3/5

I didn't really know what to expect from this and certainly enjoyed the first track with that galloping percussion. After that it's diminishing returns for me and I lost interest about half way through through. I really hope to never hear "When you Say" again, the CIA probably use it for interrogation.
