Ideon EOS DAC
This is a bare bones DAC. It just has 3 inputs Coaxial, BNC and USB. It also has RCA and XLR outputs.
The first thing I noticed is just how heavy the unit. Ideon have gone to great extent to work on the power supply. It has the following.
High output impedance at -120 dB SNR, quad current output from DAC
Cutting edge analog stage, with symmetrical ultra-low noise power supply – in a unique topology.
Low-noise power through, more than 10 different separate power regulators in the circuit.
Direct coupled output with no capacitors in the output stage.
It deploys three top-of-the-line femto ultra-low jitter and ultra-low phase noise clocks in a no-compromise architecture; precision and resulting phase fidelity of the signal is ensured.
Each clock has its own dedicated power line.
It uses a Sabre based chip with a dedicated software solution to getting the best out of it l.
It also uses a modular design so parts can be changed and upgraded.
Sound I used to believe sabre based chips, have a certain house sound, but implemention seems to be the key to creating a big smile on my face. A coherent sound with weight, depth and effortless detail is what on show here..
This is a expensive DAC for sure, that just rewards with a full bodied sound.

Sounds really good John. I particularly like the modular part for future upgrades, without the need to search for a whole new Dac again.

Is the DAC on trial John or have you purchased?

All the weight appears to be from the chassis.
Looks like a single ES9038 Pro.

Yes expensive but this is a serious DAC and should be at this price. But no need to clock.

One of the things I want with the system is a more simple setup. One in which I am not trying to constantly upgrade.

Simplifying the system is something I totally get. You might find an 'end game' DAC or other component but I don't think we have it in us not to look for upgrades in some way - it's hard wired into our DNA, part of our restless nature and inquisitiveness that will always look for something extra ...

Whilst I agree with the sentiment, for me it is a bit more complex than that. 1) I was frustrated with my sound. The biggest push for me was the electrical noise issues I heard once going digital. I had both noise from the ground plane and noise coming through the mains line. At the time I had a total lack of understanding of ground plane noise, let alone how to deal with it. 2) Not really understanding the sound I wanted. I was kind of like a cat chasing it tail. I believe I have a lot more sense of that these days. 3) This is related to the above. Hearing something new in a system that I know well and know I am missing in my setup.
I do believe once you have a system that is open and dynamic, it is a double edged sword. One side you hearing more details, on the other side you are experiencing more issues with the sound.
Other people might have other reasons.

In the last few months with my old system in place I had little desire to upgrade. I might have got a better streamer at some point. After hearing the difference it made to Martin system I think I would have gone down a similar route.
