Eastham fed the years I have had to admit that I am a sucker for voices . If someone has a voice I really like then they could sing the alphabet and I would be rapt up and n the beauty of that voice . Gary Clark is one of those voices for me started out as lead singer with Danny Wilson who I loved from my first listen to Mary,s Prayer . This is I think his only solo album and I love it . Sadly Gary got struck down with stage fright and doubted his voice which is a real loss . He was very good friends with Colin Vearnecombe (AKA Black) and with his help he was getting closer to recording again , then Colin died in a car accident and he has regressed again . I will keep hoping that he will be able to record again but it seems unlikely . Any way give this a spin and see if it is your thing . If you like them a listen to Danny Wilson is worth a try .

At last... l'm not the only one. I love Gary Clark, and "Davy" is a regular test track from Danny Wilson 1st album.
Funny 'Meet Danny Wilson" is a album that progressively improves "Hi Fi" wise, as you set up gets better.
His solo album does have some gems on it, St Jude, Baby Blue No 2.
It's worth, if you haven't already checking out King L "Great Day For Gravity"
Your post answered a lot of questions.. and sad ones, Gary such a talented person,and l wasn't aware of the reasons behind him being inactive,it's such a shame.

I too was a Danny Wilson fan. "Mary's Prayer" was one of those perfect moment, perfect pop song combinations that don't come along too often, and "The Second Summer of Love" wasn't far behind it. I bought their first two albums off the back of those two tracks, and wasn't disappointed.
Ged Grimes, by the way - Danny Wilson's bass player - went on to play with another of my favourite Scottish bands, Deacon Blue, and is (afaik) currently playing bass with Simple Minds.

Davy is very Steely Dan, right from the off. I can hear the Deacon Blue reference too, but not so much Fairground Attraction.
I'm a sucker for Lloyd Cole from the same period. Anyone like Rattlesnakes?

Anyone like Rattlesnakes? Definitely, Perfect Skin was a good single, although I thought " Lost Weekend" and the accompanying album, Easy Pieces, was even better. |

Yes.... lt's very Dan, but with a more commercial lyrics. l love Steely Dan and picked up on it,when Danny Wilson first album was released, shame Gary's not active these days. |
