I have now wired the wiim via the UGreen cable. Did not really expect to much to be honest, but it just shows you. More depth and detail. A lot more natural sounding as well. Not even using a FMC so even with the Wiim more to come.
Thanks Martin for the cable tip

Great result,as you know, l run FMC, and Ugreen CAT cable is a upgrade when used with FMC as well.

Apparently if you strip the fabric sleeving off the Ugreen cable it gets better. I’ve yet to try this.

I’m currently having great results with a Linkup Cat 8 between router and first switch. I have another that I’m going to lift the screen on one end and try from switch to renderer compared to the Sablon 2020

Which CAT level are you guys using? l have purchased both CAT7 & 8, in audio terms, they preform the same at my end. Of course you get faster speeds with 8

Whilst waiting to try the Aurender A15 I decided to try another streamer, to get a feel for what is out their. I tried the Cary DMS 800 it was being heavily reduced as a demo unit. The unit did not live up to my expectations. Its major issue was the app. In Qobuz it kept on jumping halfway through a track and then skip to the next track. The dealer did try and resolve the issue, but in the meantime I researched the fault and found that it is a common fault on other models. On reflection it was like going back to the early days of streaming. At this price point I expect better. With regards to sound its hard to judge it. Lets say it is no EOS, but that is tough competition.

That's always been the issue with many streamers John, and similar to that ifi designs.
Have you considered a Lumin ?

I would be concerned around the app experience. If the Aurender A15 does not work out for me. I will go down the Rose RS130 and Lavi Harmony DAC via I2s

To be honest once I went to a wired connection I never experienced issues with the Zen stream. Only With WiFi. Again the Volumio app is a bit dated imo.

Keep us updated John, as you seem to be asking the questions about streamers software and OS, and it's very hard to get a truthful answer or information, until you actually operate a unit.

I finally plugged the Aurender A15 into my set-up. Its a well Balanced streamer DAC and certainly beats the Topping D90 and Aurender AES100 combination I was trying. At the moment I am trying a silver unit but can see myself buying the black version. I will do a write up once I get a better feel for it.

I found I had to tackle electrical noise in 3 areas 1 On the mains. I am using grounding on the earth via a long aucham, its has anti RFI paint that helps with this particular grounding box (the difference is not subtle and not costly to apply. I have a Furtech mains distribution block feeding the Head[hone amp and streamer. 2 On the Aurender I have grounding cables and also on the router 3 On the Ethernet I have the throttle cable and the Aurender uses a double isolated device to further eliminate noise. Have the Aurender and Molinjer on the new BR big feet also helps. I am hearing a clean noise floor
