Just interested if anyone still watches this? I haven't since Jon Pertwee was a time lord, but I'm curious as they filmed some of the latest series about 100m away from my flat and I went down a couple of times to watch. The size of the crew was enormous, far bigger than anything I've seen before (they film a lot around here).
As a result of that I put Dr WHO into YouTube the other day and seems a lot of fans aren't that impressed and apparently it's had the lowest viewing figures ever for the opening shows.
So does anyone watch it and is it any good in their opinion?

Yes, a nice bit of escapism IMO. It has had it's high points and low points in terms of series and Dr Who's, the new series seems to have taken a better writing tack so far.

Might be a bit of a spoiler, but he's going to Miami in the late 50s or early 60s (assuming they use it). This scene was made to look like a Miami art deco cinema after some kind of explosion.
That's Gatwa on the right in the dryrobe coat and blue trousers.

I quite liked Matt Smith but after that it went rapidly downhill and I stopped bothering with it.

I have tried watching the new series, so far it has been pretty awful. I have enjoyed most of the modern doctors. Like Martin up to Matt Smith, since then it has gone down hill. At times it fills so politically correct that it has gotten in the way of just telling a good story.

I had high hopers to the latest incarnation, but the first episode was rather poor I thought. I'll watch them all though.

I had high hopes to the latest incarnation, but the first episode was rather poor I thought. I'll watch them all though. Same here, except I'd call the first episode bloody awful, e2 was slightly better (whoever cast "The Beatles" should be taken out and shot at dawn though), and e3 improved on that again. Russell T Davies himself has raved about e4, and going by what he's said I am not only expecting the greatest thing since sliced bread, but sliced bread that toasts itself and brings one breakfast in bed. We'll see though. Or at least, me and Pete will. p.s. I thought Peter Capaldi was a bloody good Doctor Who, and far more my idea of The Docter than the namby-pamby wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey, Matt Smith. He, Tennant (obviously) and Christopher Eccleston were all better, in fact.

Eccleston was the best.

I stopped watching in the late 80s around the time of Sylvester McCoy as I remember...

I liked the complicated plot lines of the Matt Smith (and David Tennant) eras. Peter Capaldi was good aside the shades and guitar and certainly presented the most 'alien' incarnation yet I though (when Clara grew old in one episode, he said, "Oh I didn't notice".)
I have seen every single episode of every single Doctor and so I might as well continue now!

I think one of its challenges is with the streaming services having ramped up the quality of programmes, which really shows the BBC has less budget when making Dr Who. Although that said, it was never had high budget sets, so I wonder if that is part of its charm?

This new series is apparently co-funded by Disney who have bought the International streaming rights?
I don't know how much influence they have but the woke elements some of the fans seem upset about, might be more because of Disney than the BBC, but that's just supposition. Disney do have different rules of engagement though.
I'm only interested in seeing the episode they filmed down the road, it rained a lot for Miami though, so I hope it wasn't binned!

We'll watch it tomorrow. It looked promising from the brief clip.
