Yes I saw them a while back but when ready I'm going to start with a computing brand "non-audiophile" switch ...

My fibre comes into the house and into a box that converts to RJ45. Is this an FMC and can this be done away with if I got a switch that takes a fibre connection?
The Cisco ms120-8 looks good, but I was thinking those Gustards eliminate the need for an external lps and another box.

I think you still need a router somewhere in the chain otherwise you will not connect to your ISP and the internet and you also lose any firewall your router supports. A fibre-ready router with SFP input and output ports would be ideal, if such a thing exists. The Gustard switches look good, but 10Gtek do a low-cost 4-port switch (2 SFP, 2 RJ45), which I currently use. If you have not done so already, try something like that or the D-Link before splashing-out on the Cisco ms120-8 or the Gustards.

Would suggest that the 10Gtek suggested by alp is an ideal step in to this area without spending a huge amount of money . If you find it works then you always have the option of looking at more expensive options for which you have a base line to compare to . An advantage with these cheap switches is that they accept 5V 1A power so while they will come with a standard SMPS Wallwart it is very simple to change this to a decent quality LPSU which will elevate the switch much closer to the Audiophile switches were the power supply upgrades make the most difference . www.amazon.co.uk/10Gtek-5-Port-Ethernet-Desktop-British/dp/B08G8DDNZH?th=1

I ended up buying a Cisco 2960G 8 port switch after a few Mojitos. It was £40, so worth a go. It has an sfp connection. The 2960 has a built in smps, but this can be removed and an external LPS wired in. There’s a few other mods including capacitors and clock upgrade too.
I’ll put this after the router, before my streamer, then I will buy a second one and connect the 2 via sfp, leaving the first switch for Tv etc and the last switch for just the streamer. This setup is supposed to be close to Audiophile switches for little money.
