Kismet : Sound track of the Musical Comedy motion picture on Vinyl recorded direct from the soundtrack. Both released December 1955 on MGM. This album was another of those belonging to my late Father in law & now in my collection. The LP is in pristine condition, I remember the film's release & the soundtrack on the radio particularly "This is My Beloved" the track which started my life-long love of Alexander Borodin, segments & themes of his music form the base of many of the songs in the film actually the 5th film the 1st in 1914 based on a 1911 play by Edward Knoblock. Apparently failed miserably to make only a third of production costs. Singers Howard Keel, Dolores Gray, Vic Damone & Anne Blyth amongst the biggest stars of the time. The MGM orchestra? & chorus conducted by Andre Previn, songs & voices from my youth, obviously a mono LP it would be a 3 year wait for stereo in the UK though none the worse for it absolutely loved it. Though of it's time not that dated.

I remember, as a youngster on holiday with my parents, being dragged off to a seaside show featuring Howard Keel. I didn't appreciate what a great voice he had then, but (in theory) with age comes wisdom, and I'd probably find a way to enjoy the show these days.
Apropos of not very much really, I seem to remember that Lance Percival was on the same bill performing his "calypso" schtick.
