As you know I was looking for a new streamer back in November, after my CocktailAudio X100 Pro broke down. I got many recommendations (thanks for those) but I decided to settle for the Eversolo DMP-A6 Master Edition. There are many reviews of the DMP-A6, all of them very positive, commenting favourably on the sound quality. That in combination of a more modern app and nice touch screen made me attracted to this device. The differences between "Standard" and "Master Edition" have been discussed on Youtube, with the latter having a slight edge. There is also a 3rd party LPSU available, possibly enhancing the SQ even more.
I installed the Eversolo DMP-A6 Master Edition in my system, and have run it for a couple of weeks. The DMP-A6 is very versatile but at the moment I just use it for:
The USB Out is directly connected to the Schiit Bifrost 2/64 DAC but I also connected the analogue Out to my amp, in case I want to test the internal DAC.
The initial setup is really easy with the large touch screen. If you are used to the Logitec Media Server this is a marked improvement. I am running the Eversolo app on the iPad which allows easy music selection and navigation. In the Qobuz app on my phone I can select and add an album to "favourites", then the Eversolo Qobuz app will pick these up and put them on the main (streaming) screen.
The DMP-A6 is replacing a Raspberry Pi / piCorePlayer based streamer. I found the sound quality of a streaming markedly improved with the DMP-A6 giving a richer, more textured sound which I greatly enjoyed. The Raspberry Pi seems to give a more 2 dimensional, flatter sound in comparison.
The Qobuz streaming is where the most gains are, firstly in graphical presentation of album selection and secondly in sound quality. I am getting the high res streams now and I start to think streaming sounds just as good as playing CDs or stored music files. Once the streaming is done well, sound quality might even benefit from the High Res (like SACD could sound better then CD, on the right equipment). Before the piCorePlayer I had a CocktailAudio X100 Pro and for some reason I never got the High Res streams, sound was always 16 bit 44 kHz.
Things I like in the Eversolo:
- livelike, dynamic sound
- large display which I can turn to old-style VU meters
Things I miss (that were in LMS and SqueezePad app)
- My music collection got new album covers, downloaded from internet whereas I ripped CDs with better ones
- The SqueezePad app would display "Qobuz goodies" such as the CD booklet or reviews. Those seem to be gone

- My FLAC music collection is on a small NVMe SSD inserted at the bottom of the system
- Qobuz Streaming
- Internet Radio
