I've finally found someone else who likes Alt-J and it turns out to be my pseudo-stepdaughter. In an album of consistently superb songs, An Awesome Wave, is this little gem called Breezeblocks. I played it to her and then explained the song and the meaning of the breezeblocks. She then wanted to see the video, which is one of the all-time best music videos I can think of. A truly unique band with a very unique voice and a debut album which rates very highly in my book. I'll leave you to discover it and watch the video if you want to know where the structural building units come into play. open.qobuz.com/track/159995368

Definitely gets the head nodding. As usual I struggle with vocals in music they have to be stellar magic (Send Me An Angel, We Built This City, Toto from Africa, Heat Of The Moment levels of 80's fun) for me not to be irked by them.
But there's something here at "Please dont go, please don't go, I love you so, I love you so" that does reel me in.

It's a wonderful sounding song but that video...!
Think of the film Memento.

Jesus christ. As a natural born disliker of music videos I just watched this one. I think some of it got in my eye. I think a scratched a cornea. Look. Is there any still in there? Look.
Jk but...this was a cool video on its own (disturbing) but I may never be able to not see this now when hearing this song again. I don't have the mental fiber required to seperate a song from its video.
Good freaking song though. Is there another excellent track from this group?

Is there another excellent track from this group? Yes, all the songs on their first album An Awesome Wave. Infectious and intriguing and outstandingly well produced. Try Matilda and Taro.
