I know many on here do not visit the The Wam so as in past years I am starting this thread to give details of changes and news about the yearly show . The current owners of the The Wam forum have decided that they are not prepared to support the Show going forward . As a result those Wam members who formed the Show Team have decided they will run the show themselves. As the Wam Show is registered as a name this can not be used . So there will be a 2024 Show in the same spirit as the past for enthusiasts . The Show is looking to be self supporting and any small profit that may be generated will go in to funding the next show .
Also as a result a new name has been given the Maverick Hifi Enthusiasts Show which is a tribute to Paul from the Wam who worked so hard every year to make sure the show could not only be put on but also be enjoyed . All forums are welcome at the show either as exhibitors or visitors . The venue will remain the same Barnsley Holiday Inn . The date will as far as I know still be October . However as this is a new venture without any capital backing things may well change . I will add and new information when it comes .

As a one time exhibitior of my early incarnation of the 5 way horn system and one time co-exhibitor as part of the Monster-loony horn system, I am very pleased to hear it's still going.
If my system wasn't 500kgs+ inc amps etc, I'd happily do it again.

Also as a one-time exhibitor I would love to attend again (as a visitor) but I'll have to check depending on when it will be held.

Sunday will be the day of the Show itself and tickets are being priced as this year at £10 .

Things are still moving forward for this show with all exhibitor rooms booked but if anyone is thinking about it there could still be drop outs nearer the day so worth getting in touch and being on the subs bench . As I mentioned I will be bringing my second system a three way active using MiniDSP , DIRAC Live and NVA amplification . Will also be using a Logitech Transporter as steaming player which is a decent step up from the SBT I was using . Have to admit that after a stand swap with the music room this system has not been put back together so will Have to get myself motivated and make sure it is fully working well before the day .

Would love to see anyone from here on the weekend so please drop in day hello and let me know who you are . Best sounding show of the year in my view and more and diverse equipment than any other show .

Right it has been announced that for this year's Maverick Show it will be free entrance to the public . Given that like me all who have a room and are showing a system we are paying the full room costs . At the very least it you can make a visit it is a great show and we'll worth the bother of going and as it is free it huge value .

I have today paid for my room at the show and it will be 240 which is the same room as at the last Wam Show in this venue . System will be different as i am taking my three way active set up . Speakers are stacked (yes two per side) KEF 103 Reference from the 1970,s with NVA power amps and a MiniDSP Flex 8 to provide digital cross over and DAC plus volume control . Please visit if you can and come and have a chat ask me for music as I will have Tidal on the day so a good chance I will be able to find some thing for you to enjoy . Excuse the distracted demeanour on the day it is only nerves caused by me worrying about if the music is okay and will the wireless stay connected .

Well the show was for me the usual hoot. Lots of meeting old friends and gaining some new ones with plenty of rubbish talked with people who at least understand what I am saying . Good food and plenty to drink . Then on the day the dreaded Wi-Fi down and having to switch to a Bluetooth unit and DAP . Lots of lovely visitors music still sounded very good . Then the real news which makes your heart swell nearly £8000 raised for the local charity of which I had added a bit by selling lots of unused items with all funds to the charity . I have been told that I can bring my full music system next year so it will be Quads a plenty . If anyone on here came and introduced themselves apologise by Sunday the work and wine had taken its toll and I was running on empty by Sunday night .
