As per the title, your favourite Ridley films
Mine are;
1. Alien 2. Blade Runner 3. Black Hawk Down 4. The Martian
= 5. Gladiator/Thelma & Louise
Bit of a cheat but I couldn't really separate number five, so I have an equal fifth!
Here's his filmography as a reminder.
1977 The Duellists 1979 Alien 1982 Blade Runner 1985 Legend 1987 Someone to Watch Over Me 1989 Black Rain 1991 Thelma & Louise 1992 1492: Conquest of Paradise 1996 White Squall 1997 G.I. Jane 2000 Gladiator 2001 Hannibal 2001 Black Hawk Down 2003 Matchstick Men 2005 Kingdom of Heaven 2006 A Good Year 2007 American Gangster 2008 Body of Lies 2010 Robin Hood 2012 Prometheus 2013 The Counselor 2014 Exodus: Gods and Kings 2015 The Martian 2017 Alien: Covenant 2017 All the Money in the World 2021 The Last Duel 2021 House of Gucci 2023 Napoleon

In no particular order of preference, and they are "favourites, not my opinion on his "best" films. One final proviso, I have never seen Black Hawk Down. For some reason, I always seemed to miss it when it was on TV and was only reminded of it by your list, and I can't help feeling it might have been in mine too. Black Rain only just missed out on being on my list, and (final "excuse") obviously I have not seen all, or even the majority, of Ridley Scott's films.
1. Alien 2. Blade Runner 3. Hannibal 4. Prometheus (3D) 5. Alien: Covenant
As you may have guessed, I'm a wholly unrepentant sci-fi film fan.

I think I'd struggle to find 2, never mind 5.

In no particular order, this is quite an easy choice for me.

My journey with Ridley Scott was odd in that I'd seen all my favorite of his films and only years later learned he'd directed them. He directed White Squall??
1. Alien
2. The Martian - Watched this everyday after work for a week. It's like comfort food this film is an achievement of its own imo.
3. Body Of Lies - Has anyone on earth seen this? It's good.
4. Prometheus - Weyland Yutani universe fan!
5. Gladiator - Man, Scott is great when he's good.

I have never seen Black Hawk Down . . . It's pretty good Slinger, well I think so. The first 3 of my Scott favourites I have seen many, many times. BHD is apparently pretty much a carbon copy of what actually happened, which is partly why I'm struggling to understand why he decided to fictionalise so much of Napoleon. But he's the director, so up to him . . . he must have known he'd piss a lot of people off though.
I'm currently working my way through all of Scorsese's film's. I had seen all but 6 before starting out, some multiples times, but thought I'd watch them all again and fill in the gaps after I saw Killers of the Flower Moon - I've got 8 left to do out of 26.

3. Body Of Lies - Has anyone on earth seen this? It's good. I have, wasn't that keen. Not terrible but not that fussed about it either.
I think my marker of whether I feel a film is good, is if I want to see it again and how soon - I've seen Body of Lies once and don't really want to see it again. I saw Blade Runner 2049 7 times at the cinema and quite a few since at home. Saw it on a Cineworld SuperScreen the day it came out and went straight back in for the next showing! I think that's probably the only time I've seen the same film twice on the same day.
Yes I know, what a nutter

7 times, Tim? That beats my record of 4 times I went to see Candyman in 2021 lol.
Tbh I probably could have squeezed into 2 more viewings at cinema but purchased it on Amazon.
3 times for Oppenheimer. 3 times for In The Earth.
The Martian I could do a bunch of I think.

I can't even remember what happened in Body of Lies, so it obviously didn't make much of an impact on me ...
Am I the only one here who loves The Duellists??
Absolutely essential viewing for those who like a good historical yarn. A beautifully shot, highly atmospheric film.

I like it, probably needs a rewatch to be fair, which could potentially bump it up, but it would be in the top 10

I watched House of Gucci tonight and really enjoyed it. Lady Gaga steals the show as the "Black Widow" but it's the true story itself that is probably the most remarkable thing about it. None of it is subtle, all of the performances are almost larger than life, with the exception of Adam Driver, but it all moves at a good pace and my interest never waned.

1. Blade Runner 2. Alien
Especially since back in those days, you had to/wanted to go to the theatre to see them.
