This post will build into the ultimate troubleshooting guide for all Rendus: micro-, ultra-, Optical- and Signature.
Status LED is Red
- Rendu is not booting. Check that the SD card is properly seated or test with a spare SD card (even if older). Replace SD card if necessary.
Status LED is Orange
- Rendu is not getting an internet feed. Check that the router is showing broadband or data. Check ethernet cable(s). Check any intermediate ethernet connections for data lights flickering. Simplify the connection just for troubleshooting purposes. Restart the router. Continue until you see an active internet feed.
Status LED is Green
- Rendu is connected to the internet, proceed to the next stage. A further check is that you can see the Rendu in mysonicorbiter.com | Manage.
If you don't have a green LED, stop here and fix the above.
Control software is not seeing the device (Rendu) as selectable
- Check that controller and Rendu are on the same network, not on a different router, not on a different wi-fi SSID and not using mobile data.
Control software is seeing device but won't start playing
- Perform Rendu DAC diagnostics in mysonicorbiter.com to see if the Rendu recognises the DAC or DDC type.
Control software is seeing device and can start playing music
- Rendu is connected to the internet and receiving commands, proceed to the next stage.
If you can't start playing music, stop here and fix the above.
Rendu is playing music distorted or with glitches
- Check on the controlling device the available internet bandwidth using speedtest.net. You will need more than 5Mbps for hi-res replay and should target a minimum of 10Mbps for trouble-free playback. If the speedtest shows drops in the progress graph, try restarting the router or speak to your service provider.
Music is playing at a lower sampling rate or data format than expected
Check to see what the DAC reports. Check the control software settings for maximum rate allowed. Check your music streaming service or files for the expected data format.
If music plays correctly, you have completed troubleshooting.
