Ok, back to the drawing board again. I'm now looking at nottingham analogue turntables. First one is an original Spacedeck with the original nottingham analogue tonearm fitted. The 2nd one is the newer ace spacedeck with better bearing and a few upgrades it has no arm fitted but thinking I could any arm on it . Has any body personally on here tried either of these tables out and are they worth having. Been reading good reviews on them. Thanks

Remind me what your current deck is?
Sorry not heard these but don't remember reading a bad word about them. If it was me I'd take the newer deck with arm of choice every time.
Good luck!

Thanks If you are spending that level of money you might want to consider www.stereonet.com/uk/reviews/pro-ject-x8-turntable-and-ds3-b-phono-box-review, in the future you could go to fully balance DS3 B Phono Box and get more performance, and even upgrade the MC. There is a chap on AoS who has got this route and says it is excellent, he is quite discerning, see theartofsound.net/forum/showthread.php?61906-My-2019-Update-Thread-My-final-system-I-think/page69

Conscious that I am the fourth person to comment and not actually answer your question, I can offer the following. I've never owned one. However, I have heard quite a few systems that contained one. These range from the original Dais, which I thought was fantastic, through the Spacedeck in various incarnations, as well as one system with an Anna Log with a 12" arm. Each of those systems sounded great. I probably would have bought one if I could have got over the idea that a turntable motor needed a push start!

My Source deck needs a push start otherwise the phosphor bronze platter puts too much strain on the motor!

Thanks Apologies my previous post did not answer your question in a very helpful way. I have not owned a Nottinghan Analogue, but I have heard a couple some time ago and they sounded pretty good at the time, and one chap I met who had one love it. Reading some of the reviews if you can afford it this sounds the one to go for Nottingham Space 294 Turntable and Ace-Space 294 Tonearm www.theabsolutesound.com/articles/nottingham-space-294-turntable-and-ace-space-294-tonearm/ Like the review says a silent and stable deck with a heavy platter it the way to go IMHO, then you will get to the detail in the grooves. My Pro-Ject Signature TT has a Uni-Pivot arm and I find it reveals more and gives a very musical rendition ( I have had several more expensive well known arms in the past on various TTs), I also have listened to a Wilson Benesch Circle TT with their Uni-Pivot and it was very revealing as well. I had a discussion with a dealer who sells some very high end gear about Uni-Pivots and his opinion was that if one is set up well and matched well with a cartridge then it will out perform traditional arms of similar and much greater prices. The reasoning behind this being that a good Uni-pivot have very little resistance as it is effectively balanced on a single point of contact, other arms generally utilise bearings and to get very low resistance are expensive to produce. My understanding is that the lower the resistance the arm has to overcome then the more accurately the cartridge can follow the groove. I hope that my ramblings are of some help.

The Pro-ject TT and new arms look the part but are several times the price of the Notts Analogue decks mentioned.
