I came across this just before the Wam Show and must have played it about six or seven times . This track is not going to test out your system as it is two singers and one guitar . But the singing and harmony between the at that time husband wife is just wonderful . They swoop in and around each other's voice with real ease and both give the other room to shine . This is what real versions of songs should not a slavish remake of the original but a new valid take making the song your own .

I don't think they were married to each other and that may have been the cause of their break-up.

What an amazing cover of Billie Jean!
What else should I listen to from these guys?

I don't think they were married to each other and that may have been the cause of their break-up. Indeed they weren't, saw them a number of times and had tickets for their cancelled tour (which they fully refunded, they were even paying people back travel and hotel costs if they had receipts). From memory they appeared at The Roundhouse on a Tuesday or Wednesday night apologised to fans after the show and said that's it, game over, the tour and us are finished. I was due to see them in Southampton 2 days later.
They have never publicly admitted why they split up, but I think it was fairly obvious to anyone who had seen them live - you can't fake the chemistry they had! Their rise to stardom was quite meteoric, helped along enormously by Adele. She sat right in front of me for their Union Chapel show.
John Paul is still making good music, Joy not so much, so for me it was clear who the real creative talent was in the duo - but together they were quite magical.

If folk like The Civil Wars it might be worth checking out The Black Feathers - they are married and still together, I think based in Gloucestershire at the moment and quite big in the US.
This is one of my favourite songs of theirs which is particularity poignant as Ray is a recovering alcoholic.
Holy Water - The Black Feathers
They are on all the streaming platforms to the best of my knowledge, but I think this song was only available on a limited special EP - not 100% on that though?
Their live and studio versions are quite different, but both are superb IMO.

I'm really sorry to hear this Tim, hope it didn't spoil your evening too much!

Haha, well I was indifferent to her before that night and I'm sure I've mentioned it before, but I really started to dislike her after that show. Union Chapel is a working and active church and they ask that patrons refrain from drinking alcohol in the Chapel - there is a bar upstairs but in the Church they sell soft drinks, teas, coffee and hot chocolate etc - there are clear signs to say no alcohol too. I've never seen anyone drink alcohol in the Chapel (and I've been there a lot) apart from one person . . . . Adele, with her big fat glass of red wine, entitled cow!
I'm not religious in any shape or form, but I try to be respectful.

you can't fake the chemistry they had! Their onstage chemistry is palpable in some of the videos I've seen. I'd agree that John Paul had the creative talent, but Joy had a stunning voice and was always in lock-sync with him.

That comes as no surprise Tim, the old trout is Queen of Entitlement and bad taste. A complete chav.
