It does take a great deal of 'interesting-ness' for me to post ona subject, however I really need to share this with you it has shall we say surprised myself to such a degree I had to ask three times so to let the realisation to fully sink in.
Let us look at the evidence, below is an image of some emc devices I had commissioned for a new project I am working on (it's a new medical device) anyway take a look, these interface between a power supply and a scanner / imager.
Size wise they are 9mm in diameter and 0.75mm in thickness. They are designed as an EMC barrier and work well.
Don't ever complain audio is expensive (Mike music, look away now, it may induce heart palpatations)

And that's purely for the manufacturing? Not, I didn't know, "prototyping" or "medical certification," or whatever. Bloody Hell. Love the Stingray clip btw.

Wow - shows the cost of anything bespoke, I guess.

I always thought the Stingray intro would be a good intro as a support act before coming on stage

The £400 fee is for standard 'set up fee' zero medical certification (CE/UKCA we pay for when it is submitting for a testing at a certified testing house for the relevant low/high voltage directives and emc complience) that can be upto £10K a day depending on which directives you are looking to have tested.
TBF they can be used in other application we use those types of interfaces, however the cost is astronomical I mean thats a 26Ghz BW upgrade on my analyser! The enclosure doesn't cost the same as the price for 20 of these FFS.
Time for a rethink I feel
Just as its a silly Tuesday..................
