Well this year's show is getting ever closer . I will have a room 240 for my third system a pair of Active Linn Sara 9,s not the Linn way using a MiniDSP DDRC 24 to act as the digital crossover , DIRAC Live room correction and pre DAC duties . Will use a Logitech Squeezebox Touch as player in to a Mutec 3 USB + which will have an external 10 Mhz external GPS clock . Two Fidele Audio upgraded Quad 405 power amps provide the grunt . There should be 39 other systems to hear as well so hopefully something of interest to most . If you decide to go calling to my room and introduce yourselves if I am a little distracted don't take it personal either things are going wrong or the rush and excitement will have got to me . Ask for some music and if I can find I will play . Laugh at my attempts at decent sound and tell me where I have gone wrong it is all good .

Good luck with it, Ben. I have been to the show before but Barnsley is not exactly convenient for me!
Can you remind us the of the dates/times please?

Any other TASers going to this? I'll be there for most of Sunday, wearing my telltale TheFlash T-shirt for ease of identification. Say hello. Oh, and mine's a black coffee no sugar; very kind of you.

Sadly, my genuine enthusiasm for going to what has always been a most enjoyable event is constrained by the thought of a 9 hour round car drive.
To those more favourably positioned a visit is strongly recommended! A very friendly atmosphere and interesting systems to enjoy and ,sometimes, marvel at.

I've been once and it was a good show. Sadly, for me, it's a 3½ hour drive minimum with countless roadworks on the way.

A lot of time and effort was put into finding this venue mainly by Paul Frank ( Maverick ) who sadly passed away last month , Paul was convinced this will be the future home of The Wam Show . It is a bit far north but just off the M1 . The 40 exhibitor rooms were taken back in January , added to this there is an Auction , raffle , vinyl sales and a bring'n'buy sale .

I do enjoy a good commercial show but the Wam remains the best by some way for me - one of a kind. I've exhibited at two shows myself, the first was my vintage Pioneer Urushi stack at Kegworth and the second was at Stoke, a system from a close friend's Uncle Peter who had passed away and left a fabulous Avondale-pimped Tannoy/Quad/Thorens setup which surprised a good few people (including me!) who thought they knew Tannoy/Quad/Thorens...
Really looking forward to catching up with old friends and sparring partners this weekend. I know a good few people travelling mad distances simply because, based on previous experience, they know it will be worth it.

Well have just finished packing my system and all the other gubbins i take for the show for me to start off about 12.00 tomorrow for the Show . I will be in room 240 so drop in if you decide to go and say hello . Ask me to play music for your and if I have it I will . Age does not care about any of us and despite this being my smaller system I still sweating and aching from all the up and down the stairs carrying kit .
I truly love this weekend i get to meet old friends and to make new friends it is like a huge bake off with multiple systems to listen to . best of all for the most part no one is selling you anything this is their system and they just want to make a decent sound so you can enjoy the music .

It was a great show today, new location seemed to work well. Someone described the beer prices as "London" so much pricier than a local hostelry but, probably and unfortunately, about going rate for hotels anywhere.
Obviously a fuller report with pics will emerge on the Wam itself but I'd like to shout out for the rooms to my taste (some "good" rooms in shorthand but I know it's subjective). Obviously there were also some rooms not at all to my taste (I still find it awkward doing a quick yet polite exit), and across that spectrum there was the usual mix of "as expected" and totally unexpected.
From memory rather than from compreheisive notes, highlights for me were: - lan's (SpLinnter's) room with a full set of Project Boxes bought patiently over time mainly from eBay I think and driving some beautifully finished and beatiful sounding Alchris Audio AR2. Had no right to sound this good!
- Beobloke's (Adam's) B&O system using the Penta speakers. Not just a pretty face, this was a lovely full sound I could have enjoyed for a lot longer if there weren't so many other rooms to visit. Excellent
- Mike and Colin's room with the tiny first gen (I think) Rogers Cadet monoblocks into Castle Warwicks; a fabulously engaging sound
- Steve57's semi-open baffle speakers off DIY tube power amp: a show anchor for a good few years now which I am so glad Steve doesn't seek to tweak. Love it
Special mention for bencat who benefited from a much streamlined system this year. Nice sounds from modestly sized and active-ated Linn Saras.
If there was one takeway for me, it was that simpler can often sound better. It was clear that a huge amount of thought and effort (and no doubt trial and error) had gone into DIY speakers, amps etc but to my ears the careful assembly of a system from already available components (whether current or vintage) tends to win out. With honourable exceptions naturally, as above.

Best venue by far , like a 5 star hotel compared to the previous ones , nothing will ever replace the uniqueness and fun of Scalford but my God it was hard work there . The auction , raffle and charity bring'n'buy raised £3600 for the local hospice and their representative was totally gobsmacked by the amount , she was not expecting anywhere near that .

300 paid visitors , great for the new venue which we are hoping to use in the future if the hotel are happy with the way it went .

I'll make a resolution to get myself up there next year, and find somewhere to stay.

There are usually spare rooms or if you miss one of those there is an Ibis very close .
