Sometimes nobody else 'gets' the music that affects you, Robert. It just happens, and it can be puzzling, but there really is no accounting for personal taste.

Well, someone likes it because it went double platinum in the USA and sold 1/2 a million copies in the first month after it was released. Alice Cooper:
"I can spot traces of other people on this album, us included, but that's all they are: traces. They were a really original band. This is their peak album, where they really went out on a limb. Sometimes I get so caught up in these songs, I can actually feel the band pushing themselves to their limits. Sometimes I can't believe how strong it is. I wonder if this will have the same effect on some kid as Chuck Berry had on me ..."

I wish I listened to this when it came out as I know it was/is highly regarded , today it's just too noisy for my tastes and I found it hard . 2/5

Valid points guys about the noisy tracks but I think Jane's Addiction may have shot themselves in the foot by putting those tracks first. The 2nd half of the CD is so different than the first half with tracks that are far more laid back.
Those tracks on first half seem like something a few other rock bands could have done.
But I can't see anybody besides JA creating anything like those songs on the 2nd half. I wish they'd started the album at 'Three Days'.

I really didn't know Jane's Addiction until now. I really enjoyed the music and did not mind Perry Farrell's voice at first (and he reminded me a bit of the B52s), but after after a while he started to grate as his style is just too repetitive. 3/5.
