I buy music on CD and download every month . However when I find something I really like by an artist I am not familiar with it becomes a feeding frenzy . Heard a song by The National liked but not really heard the band before so sitting here using Amazon used and EBay ring about five or six used cd,s for under a fiver and just order them all . I did this with Malia and others never seen to just buy one CD listen to it then decide to look for more , if there are well priced used then order as many as I can . Strange really but means I do have the chance to binge listen if I want to .

I used to do that a lot. Not so much nowadays, though. Completism is easier with some artists than others though. Just be careful before you think about getting into the work of Frank Zappa!

Like Chris, I've done that in the past with a few artists, but started to find myself with a bunch of albums I only played the once. I do have "complete" collections, but only from building on existing favourite bands and artists, and mostly bought one at a time.

You see that would be sensible and one part of me knows this . But I still find myself like to day doing it . It is mainly when the used Cd prices are pretty low and i just think its not that much and add as many as I find . Getting to listen is always an issue for me any way I have over 4500 cd,s and somehting like 77,000 songs listed in my library so not able to ever listen to all of these and the main reason why I just have never bothered to look at a streaming service as I can not get through what i own let alone get drawn in to the endless rabbit hole of streamed music .

I've never bothered with streaming for precisely the same reasons, although I do like disappearing down the odd YouTube rabbit hole and discovering new artists, and I use the free version of Spotify to check out their albums before making a buying decision, which is mostly downloads these days, except when there's something "special" about the CDs. Point ion case; I bought the last three Bernie Marsden CDs, all signed by the man himself.

I rarely do with artists but I do it from time to time exploring different music themes. For instance a few years ago I did a deep dive into modern cello music, which then led me to explore modern classical music for a while

I stream exactly because I want to chase down new artists and explore what I like, add good material to one of my genre playlists (stoppit Chris!) and reject the rest. I never need to buy CDs or downloads. It gives me complete freedom to explore for just the monthly sub.
