Very glad to see this as an Album Choice. I've heard this bands named bandied about my entire life and was always too cool to so much as even glance in their direction. Just too damned cool for it.
Now I'll be forced to reckon with it, so to speak.

Sunn O))) best enjoyed on Big , Big speakers played very loud I can imagine the effect of massive speakers and what the added physical impact could bring to the experience. I wonder how it sounds on a very resolving high end system though...? Could this then be unlistenable (even more so, for some people )?

I'm not sure you'd make a good salesman Tobias with "could this then be unlistenable" but I admire your honesty

We'll call this one May (2) to preserve the dateline.

It would have made a good soundtrack for Dark.
I could have done with just 1 min of track 1. The opening of track 2 was promising and then we were back to track 1 again. Track 3 was track 1 with lots of annoying filtering, then at least we had something a (tiny bit) different. Would track 4 be different? Promising opening... well, it proved to be marginally better.
The length of these tracks suggests that they're a trip, but they left me at the station.
Sorry Tobias, I am not the target audience for this band. 2/5 only for the final track.

A 3 from me. It reminds me of something I might have got stoned to many years ago, or a Laibach track played at half-speed.

3/5
Was not able to fully get into this, yet. Again, the vocals like for most of my life were just intrusive and ruined what I hoped for, though far less than vocals usually ruin things for me.
But, this album led me to another Sun O))) album called 'Black One'. Track 2 "It Took The Night To Believe' is just right.
I'm looking for those dark atmospheres that just nail it somehow.
2 bangers for me in that way are:
Necro Deathmort - Moonstar
Nadja - God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
