Right then, I need some help. The Moody Blues - but not the band who go by that name!
I have a particular penchant for moody, slow burning bluesy songs that may, or may not, build up to something bigger, faster and a little more frenzied. I can't get enough of stuff like that and I wonder if you have any recommendations for me?
Here's a few less obvious ones plucked from the back of my mind to give you some idea of the kind of thing I'm thinking of......
Rory Gallagher - 'Fuel to the Fire'
Led Zeppelin - 'Tea For One'
Boz Scaggs - 'Loan Me a Dime'
ZZ Top - 'Blue Jeans Blues' (not Aubergine Blues as you might mistake it for!)

I was glad you posted up those Govt Mule links John. I always really liked their cover of Neil Young's 'Cortez the Killer'

Thin Lizzy did some great slow burners They did, but in all honesty "Don't Believe A Word" was not one of them. The song first appeared in 1976, and it wasn't the version your Youtube video provided. Lizzy's version was the faster, rockier version we're all familiar with. The version you linked to was from 1978, and it is the way Phil Lynott originally intended it to be. It first saw the light of day on Gary Moore's solo album "Back On The Streets". In truth the video was listed as Gary Moore and Friends, and with Cozy Powell on drums and Don Airey on keyboards it was definitely not Thin Lizzy!

Ah! Chicken Shack - 'Can Brits sing the blues?' The answer is yes, and for the record blue men can sing the whites. CAUTION - THREAD DRIFT

Just to get things back on track - a collection of 30+ British slow burnin' blues. I'll just post the links instead of posting the actual videos as there are so many of them. You might not like all of them, but I've gone for quantity as well as what I consider quality. I've had to insert a space between the // and the www to stop the videos appearing automatically and they should now act as pure links when clicked.

Now that's a great list. Some of it I know, some I don't. Excellent, thanks.
